Because it’s always now. But we’re always thinking in terms of the past — or the future.” She paused. “Sorry, I got off track.”"

If Cuomo wasn't guvna, the east would be more advanced, but he has been playing the conservative upstate card against downstate by being very strident on the anti weed side. He's politically smart, though, and if he saw the tide suddenly turning, that would be a very fast 180 in one of the country's most populous and wealthiest regions. I'm pretty sure his eyebrow arched when he picked up the paper and read about Ohio.

    Let's review
50k pounds at $50/quarter ounce = $160 million in annual retail sales for Vermont
Oregon did $11million in one week, and Colorado sells $50 million per month. So about 4x the projections for VT.

And while I realize most of that VT revenue will come from outside the state, I don't see any sales records getting smashed any time soon.

Isn't $50 1/4 pretty high? I have not yet been in a shop but my bro just got a 1/8 at a shop in Eugene for $17.50.

I agree, it's on the high side. I estimated $50/qtr to reflect that some of those 50k pounds will get concentrated so overall ASP will be higher.

Doesn't change the conclusion - either the state of Vermont is seriously underestimating demand from the NE population centers, or the NE maggot contingent is seriously overestimating demand needed to shatter sales records

This would be the greatest thing to happen to the Vermont economy since skiing. Seriously. I mean, there is a massive drug trade going on in the state right under the noses of everybody with heroin, with maybe billions changing hands. Legalize weed and tax, divert citizens from scag, even give them jobs, a lot of them. And tax, tax, tax. Vermont knows how to tax real well, and, bottom line, New Yorkers and Jersey people accept paying those taxes. Win win.

Did it smell like hay or terpenes? Big range in quality... at least in CO. Ill pay 50 all day for well managed product. The $20 eigths ive picked up have been poor tasting and average on strain effect. Whereas $200oz can yield good quality in WA

This - the stuff they are selling at rock bottom prices has either been sitting there too long and they need to move it, or tests lower in thc then typical.

It was nice. So just shot some texts back and forth-> Apparently they put strains in specials when they get low and have less than ideal nugs left.

$200 oz is average for top quality.

Yep. A "stupid tax" on people too stupid to legalize it in their own states. This is how America works.

OK so you do like Washington and tax at about 32%. That means annual tax intake of $51 million on $160 million of retail sales.
Less than 1% of Vermont's budget.

And that $51 million assumes nobody stays with black market or finds it worthwhile to get a med card because the tax is so freakin high.

While I obviously am happy that legalization is happening sooner rather than later, be careful of joining an expedition to summit The Peak of Inflated Expectations https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hype_cycle

And while on the subject of weed in VT, kudos to Bernie for introducing the senate bill to deschedule cannabis.

Funny, the med price with taxes is pretty much in line with the black market prices.
