Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans

The documentary, which Content Media will be selling in the Cannes Market, is described as “an extraordinary, moving, white-knuckle drive with one of the greatest movie stars of all time, and the film that almost destroyed him.”

The pic, which is directed by Gabriel Clarke and John McKenna, follows McQueen’s quest to make a movie in the early 1970s about the 24-hour race in France, Le Mans. Over a six-month period, McQueen’s director John Sturges quit, his marriage fell apart, and his company was on the brink of bankruptcy; and all the while he was in constant fear for his life after learning that he was on the top of Charles Manson’s “death list.”

The docu interweaves interviews with never-before-seen footage from McQueen’s planned movie.

McQueen’s son Chad McQueen, who is one of the main interviewees in the documentary, will be in Cannes to present it alongside the filmmakers.

This might be a dumb question but the FJ Cruiser as a 5-10yr investment? BS was noting the sector rotation in the and curious if those are on people's radar.

I don't know about as an investment, but I do know my brother in law picked one up just because they were killing the model and he thought they were cool. No other reason. He's also kind of irrational so take it for what it's worth.

I don't think the FJ will appreciate, however the car will hold it's value extremely well.

A good long term investment car is the 993 that is still somewhat reasonable. The C2, C2S, C4.

    C4S has gone retard.

I had the opportunity to buy a 96 993T. Guy wanted 160 for it, and I was prepared to offer 15 less. When I called he said he had 6 people ahead of me at his asking price.

If you have the money, Manual 360s and 430s will be the next full retard Ferrari. Maintenance can kill you on either car though. 996 Turbos will eventually start to get hot. 997 Turbos in Manual will eventually be hot. GT3/RS are already full retard and are about to go plaid. The 4.0 especially. I am currently trying to find a client a 4.0.

That is a rough car. I would think a good 86 Targa would be in the high 30s low 40s.

I think they are going to go up though.

60s chrome doesn't really do it for me, especially in a garage that makes it look like a little kids diorama of the past. I do like the low riders some of the guys build with these things, but they don't do it for me as much as sports cars do.

Going to be looking at picking up a fun car sometime next year. Cheap, fast, good handling, reliable as possible. Thinking the 350Z, the most deadly car by fatalities per mile, is the ticket. Japanese build, f/r setup with a 6 speed, strong motor afaik with easy mods, and ok styling. Any critiques or alternate suggestions? I'm a 2/10 on the handyman scale, although I learned brakes, battery and spark plug maintenance recently. Happy to dump a reasonable amount of free time on this. Looking to get WHP around 300 or close, don't need a 1/4 mile car just a fun one to raise hell with.

5 years ago my mission was to get a 911 (classic or 993), but as noted in this thread those are in the investment realm now. Wouldn't be wise to have that as an endorphin machine.

350Z is a really fun car with great potential. I prefer the G35 coupe, because it has a back seat, and looks better IMO. Both can be had with a manual.

Do some research because some of the VQ35DE engines had oil consumption issues. You will probably want to go with the uprev engine. I think the engine code is VQ35HR.

This is one of my favorite Zs. 420Ztt 760hp
