Yeah - he said after about a foot he tried to drive his car, a Jeep (not a Rubicon or Wagoneer) up his 1/2 mile dirt road after it snowed a foot or so. He got stuck about 1/4 mile in and could only backtrack (yes, it's up-hill.) Then it snowed at least another foot. It took several plow trucks and finally one of the snowblower trucks with the machine on the front to get to him.

Back when we used to go down to Blowshoe the Old Man would usually have a "hooter" dangling jauntly from his lips.

i'm still hoping for a 12 inch plus end of the season event -- I would love to skin and ski a deserted CV

Well a few fresh inches and an early closure of Silver Creek made for a little fun, and a rare feeling of peace at WV favorite interwest resort

Anybody stay at the new Canaan Valley State Park Lodge? How is it?

I only stayed there once - before they finished construction.

I talked to a number of people who really liked it, they were couples or families I met riding lifts mostly but allspoke well of it and those who had stayed there before the upfit were really impressed. I always thought it was great when I used to go with my sons. I could give you more details it's just not the type place I stay anymore -- i.e. it costs > $30 and is cleaner than me. You should recommend it without hesitation though, like all the WV state park system it seems like a great value

down south very bad so far. as you probably know sugar put in the area's first truly detachable hi speed (that POS at beech doesn't count) over the summer and opened top-to-bottom for a day but that's about it. Hoping it gets better. Haven't been following blowshoe/canaan...

Have fun in all this snow, people. I'll be making turns in a super secret stash on the hills above the gunpowder river north of Baltimore. I'd take pics, but I am too lazy.
