Ignore skiers passing you at 25mph. DO NOT GO STRAIGHT, instead, make an inconspicuous hairpin left turn, easily recognizable by the inevitable massive ice patch. After falling on the ice, make a right into the tiny rock section (our apologies snowmaking on this section is on a money hold). Once through the rock field DO NOT go down the nice easy groomer. Instead, follow the easiest way down sign. Extra points if you air out the massive water bar. Proceed to the next sharp turn. Do not go too fast as this area has no drainage and is known to have massive holes in coverage/ice patches. Inevitably, you are now alone (early season no expert skier would dare go this way), proceed as normal. Continue down what might actually be considered a beginner run, this is a trick to boost your confidence. Proceed to hit a minimum of 10 water bars. Great you've made it! Proceed to your car and drive directly to either 1) Bromely, 2) Stratton, or 3) Okemo, never return to Magic again.
Man, until that last line I thought that this was a great advertisement.

Hey thanks, Do Work. I'll be up there Saturday, probably solo. Black jacket, old K2 Obsetheds, GS poles. Say hi if you're around and see me. And I'll definitely be up for some work later in the year.

Out here playing hooky with the fam on a private ski area apparently.

Have not seen another soul. The sun is out and the snow is killer.

Look out everyone: Magic only has 10 trails open.

If you click on the link on the Magic website for the 'full snow report' this is what you get:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFpdxZaZwH0

I like it, it's funny, but what. the. fuck.???? The full snow report that Magic has for everyone who clicks on it on their website is almost 3 months old???? It might as well be from 2010 telling us that only Trick to Show Off is available. Even by Magic standards this is tough to swallow.

(I was looking at this because I just convinced a friend to try Magic for the first time next weekend, and based on lack of snow around here he was assuming the snow would suck at Magic (he's not a skier--gf snowboards). I assumed there would be a current photo or something on the site that I would show him to prove how good the snow is. Don't think a report from Jan 1 will do the trick.)

^ So if we're going back in time, does that mean we won't have freezing rain and rain tomorrow?

Oh well, that consistently cold stretch sure was nice while it lasted.

For anyone hoping to laugh at wet lycra from the lift tomorrow, the rando race will be rescheduled, probably to Sunday this weekend (unless more people want it rescheduled to the last weekend in March).

    Good point.

It begs the follow up question. Why are a bunch of dudes so upset about women's t-shirts?

Off topic a bit, but curious about the bldg over on the right side by Rabbit Run. Was that originally built as a hotel, and is now all apartments? Is it owned by Magic or does someone else own it? No agenda here, just curious about what its relationship to the hill was/is.

They're the 'new' condo's that were built in the 80's. AFAIK, the condo's are all individually owned and maintained by an owners association but I'm sure some of the folks who own/rent there and frequent this thread can shed more light on the situation.

Been off the grid and missed out on many pages....

On the name game: Bankman did the majority of the work in that glade (glaid? Glayed? Ghleyed?) but he wants to call it Tittyspiel. That may be too offensive. FBG is enough of a double entendre to work but Tittyspiel is just Tittyspiel.

Goniff is the one that came up with "Treat". Nobody liked it but nobody (other than Bankman) came up with an alternative. I'm still enough of a Magic JONG that I don't think I get a vote but I vote against Treat and Tittyspiel anyway.

For anyone that wants to help out, I'm at Magic virtually every weekend year-round. Definitely want to wait until mid- to late-Summer to let things dry out and let the Black Flies live out their miserable life cycle. My plan is to hike to the top every day I'm there and spend an hour or so on the way down clearing the schwack. I don't cut trees if they're too big for loppers...as DoWork said, there's no need given the nature of things. Going to at least double the width of Trick/Illusion/Tittyspiel/BimSalabim and then move west one trail to reopen something that I skied in 2008 that is barely skiable now.

On the topic of skied out...I've had no trouble finding untracked or refreshed lines all winter including las Saturday. Try that at Killington, Stowe, MRG, SB or Jay.

On the topic of vert...as Southside Johnny eloquently opined, "It ain't the meat, it's the motion."

I'm sure there's a way to multi quote on the mobile app but I'm an idiot...

Mrs. Loads & I could take the vouchers on Sunday. We had planned on doing the semi-honorable thing & paying the walk-up rate, but if they're going to waste & you'll be out cash we'll take them.

The work in the trees is top notch and I love skiing them, some serious focus on a work day to shore up the deck would be well worth it.

Fuck it then. I'm going to Stowe. I hear it's 80's weekend- which I assume means you pay lift ticket rates from the 1980s. So rad
