The hype is soooo real for the SW this weekend. Seems like everyone is going all in on 2+ feet and leaning towards 2-4'.

Stay in South Fork. Pagosa side of the pass closes for avy control much more regularly than the South Fork side. I like the Legacy Lodge for cheap, not too ghetto, and hot tub but there's other places that are fine too.

Fuck. Now I'm hyping myself on heading to Taos. Obviously the terrain is better. Been to WC before, but never Taos. Thoughts?

    telluride silverton area conditions

thinking of making the 20+hr drive from whistler to telluride area. what kind of season are you having. looks like another storm. is it work the drive?
telluride terrain looks good as does silverton.
Durango and wolf creek look small.
    created butte worth checking out.
it's so hard to tell how the area is doing from snow reports alone.
is touring at red mtn pass good these days? any other touring spots we should try getting after?
    thx

Taos terrain is $$$$ with snow. Not sure how low tide is was prior to the past 10 days but with what theyve gotten and are predicted to get I dont think you can lose

it is so strange to read this thread and see people from Utah, California, Idaho, even Whistler debating coming to Colorado. How often does that happen??? haha

What day are you planning on arriving? Telluride was having an ok season until recently......, but the past 2 weeks have been very very good for resorts down in southern Colorado (CB, Telluride, Silverton, etc)

I'm admittedly not familiar with Taos' terrain, but their snow report is touting a 62 inch base. I assume that's enough to cover most of the stumps/rocks/etc?

285 through South Park is deserted and it's 6 degrees and pounding cold smoke. Doubling down on the Wolf Creek / Taos combo.

Mdblows - 62 inch base is enough to cover the rubble at Taos. That would be a smart play.

Bit pissed OpenSnow did some Taos exposure, now everyone is gonna flock. Since that's outta of the bag, any thoughts on Salomon extreme champs @ taos this wkd? Will they rope **everything** off on Kachina? Will that lift still spin during comp? Latest plan of attack has been... Wolf f'in flat Creek on Sat, Taos Sun/Mon .. back to work Tues.

Probably making the trip to WC from Eagle county. Still debating Telluride.

Better get a room quick either way.

If it's snowing hard at Taos, I can't see them using Kachina as the finals venue. They'll use something on West Ridge instead.

It's fairly safe to say that at least some of the rowdy terrain will be closed for the comp.

I turned on the webcast from the event today and you couldn't even see the fucking venue.

Hey Jong, Legacy has been closed for almost a year, but there is a cool shop next door now. I would try Wolf Creek Lodge and Spruce Lodge or VRBO for house rentals...C21 has some good ones.

We rented a place in Salida a few months back for this weekend. Looks like Monarch might get some of this storm, otherwise, I'll be only 2 hrs from Wolf and 3 from Taos. Hmmm.

I am going to be in Silverton Saturday night to ski Sunday. I am up for grabbing a beer with other transient powder chasers that evening.
Looking like I picked a good weekend to chase snow

Holy fuckballs, and I though Maui to Vail was a commute! If you do that Toenails do a full trip report, diagrams, choppy edits the whole enchilada. I speak for the collective offering beta and trip info.

Fuck it. Sticking with my original decision of Wolf Creek. Black pants, blue northface jacket. Icelantic Nomad RKR's or Volkl Nunataq's. Ask for change and show me pictures of your sister
