Sit down on the six. 5 Minutes in to ride, Girl says to guy next to me "I hope you are good at skiing on one ski" Guy looks puzzled..."why is that" he says. She says "well you only have one ski"... He looks down and exclaims "Holy crap! wheres my ski?" I tell him that it came off when we all sat down and someone should be sending it up. Of course the guy totally squids at the top.... How do you not know that your missing a ski?...Good times...

Helped a bunch of young guys today who were attempting to push their car in the parking lot after a day of skiing.

    Me: "You guys doing OK?"
    Guys: "Yeah... The car died."
Me: "Can I give you a jumpstart?"
Guys: "Well, we're just going to push start it."
Me: "Hmm.. Are you *sure* I can't give you a jumpstart?"
Guys: "Yeah.. actually that might be easier."

Did I mention they were facing uphill?
Did I mention they were in a minivan facing uphill?
Did I mention they were in a modern, fuel injected, electronic ignition, automatic transmission minivan, facing uphill?

Everyone says I am skiing real strong even though these are rentals.

There was no line. It wasn't a powder day, and it was raining. So yeah, it was gaperish. I got second chair at about 8:50 by casually strolling up there.

I've had a ski fall off getting on a lift. Damn Markers. I made it off the chair without falling though.

Not sure why the jeans thing is gaperish. Guy skis a couple times of year. Doesn't want to pay $400 for the latest from Arcteryx (AFAIC wearing top of the line mountaineering clothes for resort skiing is gaperish, especially if you paid full price). Cowboys do all kinds of outside work in the snow in jeans, and they are real men, not like us. And I've never seen anybody skiing in jeans who wasn't having a good time. In fact, I'm going to take off the Marmot goretex pants I'm wearing and put on my 501's before I head out this morning.

Ah, fond memories. Back in college friend of mine had a VW van without a battery. I got a ride anywhere around town; the deal was I had to push start him everytime he wanted to go someplace. Not sure why I was so anxious for a ride--you could walk anywhere in 10 minutes. Friend wound up owning the best restaurant in Jackson, WY until he retired. Now he winters on the beach.

Kids around here like to "lean back and just go" under the lift with big floppy K2's. Terrible stuff. My snowboarding roommate tried to tell me about how it's just "newschool" and I said something like no, it's just bad skiing form and you can hurt yourself.
