How much should one expect to spend on a quality bipod?

    Thanks!
The chassis has a sling stud @ 6 o'clock on the handguard, so that stud can be used as a bipod mount or he could attach a small rail section to the bottom of the handguard as it appears to be a modular design.

Here's a pretty good review of the chassis and a link to the bipod that they recommend:

Shit, should've picked up shooting as a hobby instead of photography, much cheaper accessories!

Thanks for the help and recommendations! My brother in law is a great guy, deserving of some hardware therapy.

Slings and bipods are one of those personal choices that is different for everyone. Here is a bipod I use and really like but it is pricey. Precision shooting is an expensive sport. http://www.accu-shot.com/Atlas_Bipods.php

Can be expensive to get started, but your cost per round will plummet. I shoot more 44 mag than anything and my cost per round is about 80% less than the cheapest stuff I could get off the shelf. It'll also bring out the best in your guns, especially the rifles.

Start off with a single stage press. RCBS Rock Chucker kits are the best way to get started on the cheap ( http://www.cabelas.com/product/RCBS-...it/1324071.uts ). Add a bench (I bought this one and it's badass http://www.samsclub.com/sams/ultra-h...prod1490086.ip ), shell holders and dies (go with carbide for the pistol cartridges), and reloading components (brass, primers, powder, bullets all specific to what you like the looks of in your reloading book) and you're in business. If you have any friends or acquaintances that reload, obviously enlist their help, but if not there is unlimited information available online. You can probably find a lot of stuff on craigslist, especially cheap spent brass. Spend plenty of time researching and watching videos before you start, and take your time and be careful once you get going.

    Any thoughts on this one?

Looking to use this primarily for hogs using 00, or slugs.I have a nice 20 GA over under for birds. I have a .30-.30 cowboy lever action for hogs from the stand. Our next hunt is going to be a stalking hunt. I want to drop 'em quick. I am also looking at a .357 7 shot SW revolver for that hunt. I own no handguns, but feel a need for some extra protection. Those hogs can mess you up.

Anyone ever shoot one of these? The price is $400, which is right where I want to be. The tactical finish is perfect for the abuse it will take. Home defense in a shorter package will just be a plus. I am considering putting a red dot on the top rail too.

I luv .357 wheel guns, need to get one again.

That scatter gun looks alright, simple, effective. Seems like it would be fine for HD or hog dispatch.

Ifin you get one report back how it performs.

Is there a 3-9 x 40 that will hold a zero attached to a. 270 and doesn't cost a fortune? People are asking almost what it costs new for a used VX2. Wtf is that shit?

Gun stoke! I dug out a bunch of stuff for a range day while I was in Louisiana last weekend. I'm happy to report that all of my magazines that have been left loaded and exposed to a wide range of temperatures for the last 1.5 years functioned perfectly.

The Tavor is awesome to the point of being boring to shoot. It just works. I like the Meprolight m21. I dislike the amount of ammonia I inhale when shooting the thing quickly.

The AR in the case is a Stag 3G that has the brake and stock swapped for more suitable items. The Vortex Viper 1-4 works rather well with the combo.

Looks like it has really high reviews specifically mentioning holding a zero (and clarity, etc). That's good.
Is it "eye relief" that has to do with how sensitive the scope is to where your head is? Whatever it's called, how is that part? (obviously, that's effected by zoom, so let's assume 3-4x on a 3-9 scope).

Just got a Vortex something or other from my brother as a belated birthday / early Xmas present. Not a Diamondback, but beggars can't be choosers. If it holds a zero from the range and back, I'm happy.

    Maybe.
We'll see if it holds after being driven around on my back seat over some dirt roads.

Stupid question: Why if I'm about 3" high at 25yds am I not 3" high at 100yds? 130gr .270 and 22" barrel. Is the bullet still rising? It seemed like it was going really high. Definitely off the paper. Is the bullet still rising that much at 100? I seem to have a lot of trouble zeroing, and it's not me. I'm shooting groups. I figured if I bought a box of 20 shells I'd have it done in 10. 20 max. And then as I ran out of shells had it back on paper at 100yds. Maybe.
Shooting has been nothing but frustrating and expensive for me. I'm pretty broke, and this is getting fucking ridiculous. Is my rifle put together sideways?
I've put over 120 rounds through this gun. Put on better rings and a slightly better scope. Still nothing.
How the fuck are you guys putting thousands of rounds through guns and getting better than moa accuracy? What is the secret, be rich?
I have better than 20/20 vision. Relax. Get my head in the right position with everything centered. Breath. Relax. Squeeze. I don't flinch. I keep the scope between 4 and 6 power. Sometimes it's like I might as well have my eyes closed when I shoot. And even with the better recoil pad, my shoulder pocket gets pretty sore.
I've tried some different types of ammo. It seems to like the blue Federal stuff. I know it's low end, but when it does work, it seems to group it well. It was really cold yesterday, so the barrel getting too hot wasn't an issue. It was only warm to the touch.
I'm pretty close to just returning the new scope, putting the old one back on and just selling the thing. If I hadn't just bought my deer tags as well, I would have done it yesterday after shooting.
This is getting fucking ridiculous. I'm pissed to no end. If I don't get a deer by the end of hunting season, I'm selling this thing for whatever they give me for it, don't care, and it can be someone else's problem.
So now, if I wanna try to use this rifle, when I'm at my brother's, we gotta go drive another 45 minutes and shoot another $50 worth of ammo, and the place we can hunt on is right down the road from his house.
Thanks, everyone, btw, for buying into the NRA's scare tactics, and driving up the price of everything. You realize they represent the gun industry, and not shooters and hunters, right? They use your membership dollars to scare you into hoarding shit so the guys at Leopold can keep all their scopes at $300 or more. Oh, and don't even try to find .22. Thanks, preppers.

You really need to get a basic understanding of ballistics and get a proper zero. Here's a very basic article that uses .270 as an example, so this is probably a good starting point.

Pretty happy with this 10rd group @ 50yds (Rem Target 40gr lead round nose) using a roll of shop towels as a barrel rest. These were the first 10rds out of a Green Mountain 16" fluted bull barrel that I put on a 10/22 last night. Green Mountain's barrels are about half the price of most of the other quality aftermarket 10/22 barrels but apparently shoot quite well. I had read a lot of good things about them before buying, and it looks like they were true.

What kind of 270 are you using? I don't see your rise and fall being over 5"s total.

Are you shooting from a bench, with a rest and a lead bag? I would venture to guess this would help you more than anything. Have a friend load(?) your gun and see if you are flinching.

What is the zero you are trying for 100 or 200 yards?

I don't think your ammo or heat is an issue.

My first rifle was a 700 in 25-06 with a tv scope (that's really old school) which is pretty close and that thing slays deer. I've had over 100 guns and I still use that on deer over anything. I've loved the black hills 117 gr but I don't think ammo is that big of a deal if you keep your grains the same.
