Yeah, they can be finicky. When they get as old as they are now, you need to do everything to them in the area you are working on. Case in point, I just finished up a timing belt and balance belt job, and while I was in there, it got new seals for the whole front end. Every seal, oring, sleeve, etc. Cooling system got a thorough inspection, new water pump, pulleys, you name it. Front end is done. Good as new.
Next on the agenda is pulling the intake manifold and the entire vacuum system blah blah blah...
Nice thing is that 20k ago the previous owner did the clutch, rear main, and everything else in there. I hope to have a reliable car, but I'm sure some issues will come up.
Loving driving it to work down 80 right now, hit 120 this morning when a nice gap in traffic opened up.
Yes the radar detector is in place.
I too saw an f40, couple years ago in slc at Steve Harris imports. Bad-fuckin-ass. Have yet to see a 959.
sigless.
As much as British cars are dogs, this is one of the prettiest ever and likely posted numerous times in this thread
And keeping with bad teeth and amazing cars, enjoy a beautiful car driven beautifully: http://blackflag.jalopnik.com/slidin...628506/+travis
Rejoice TGR fans! While checking to see if the 5 series wagon would arrive on US shores this year I found this and it checks all your dream categories! 6 speed manual, turbo-diesel, awd, no fly by wire steering, M-Power! I know it's not an Audi, but come on, you can make do!

I still call it The Jake.
Check the article date.
Heh. Only reason I mentioned the date is because I was on the hook.
Can I interest you in a Ferrari for under 4 grand?

I used to see this crap all the time down there. Loads of the "Countach" Fieros back in the day, but at least those were TRYING to be a replica, as lame as they were. Later on I saw God knows how many Civics or other old beaters with Mercedes or BMW emblems. Neons with VTEC badges. Obviously V-6 Camaros/Trans' with a single exhaust, rusted and falling off, rocking Z28/WS6 badges and fake hood scoops.
When you live in the barrio, you see a lot of truly laugh-out-loud hilarious stuff almost every day.
That begs the question, do they actually believe the bullshit they're building/selling/buying or are they just that fucking stupid?
Pay no attention to that Mitsubishi motor under the hood...

That 2000gt is an all time favorite
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
Crazy how the article mentions the "prayers of internet commenters have been answered". Are the auto writers/manufacturers monitoring us?
Full disclosure: when I was originally reading it I was in full belief... until I got to the part where they were doing away with drive by wire. Then I checked the date. And then checked my excitement.
Saw that 2000gt Toyota in Tokyo a few years back in some showroom in Ginza. I was blown away. Revive the corpse of whoever designed that thing, Toyota.

Yup...for a rice-burner, that 2000GT was a looker and a nice set of wheels. Maybe I'm biased towards Euro and Detroit Vintage and antique vehicles, but last year's RM auction price of 1.16 million dollars for one???? That is just nuts!
I really can't wrap my head around Japanese cars, no matter HOW well-designed and efficient, as being any sort of collector cars in the same category as that sweet Aston Martin DB5 above, or Jag E-type, or Morgan, Porsche 911 vintage....in my mind, they just don't have that panache. It doesn't help that for years, the basic Japanese engineering modality was to blatantly RIP-OFF whatever euro or american design was popular at the time. Look at the first Infinity...essentially an exact copy of the 4-door Mercedes. And the fact that the Nissan 300-350 was always playing catch-up (and never really coming close) to the Porsche 911. That said, the Datsun 240Z WAS a sweet little car, though!!
Even the "king" of rice-burners, the very respectable and mighty fast Nissan Skyline GT-R does absolutely NOTHING to stir my soul....not that I wouldn't mind putting one through its paces on some empty, twisty road!!! But it just doesn't tug at my heartstrings the way say a new Aston Martin coupe would...even tho the Skyline might be much faster.
Is it some sort of "automotive racism", I wonder???
EDIT: I have to admit, though....I AM sweet on the 'Japanese MGB' - the Mazda Miata. I've always wanted to buy an older one and modify it into a great little SCCA Rally car. Oddly enough, I'd paint it British racing green..and give it a Cobra-style rollbar.

the James Bond 2000GT was a favorite airfix model as a kid. I can remember saving up pocket money until I could afford it. Forgoing other cheaper plastic model kits. Saturday morning visit to local toy store to check that the only one they had on the shelf hadn't yet been bought.
Ahem.

Lol...WHICH Bond? My fav Bond was Moore..and he didn't drive no DB4/5. Seems he mostly drove Miss Penny, if I remember... and maybe a submersible car here and there.
The Connery Bond certainly had oodles of style, though...and DID put those modified AMs thru their paces!!
I wonder what car Sean Connery drives when he's not being hauled around in a limo. I imagine something pretty sweet!!! 2014 AM coupe???
I wonder if he even still drives.
