The latest issue of Powder has an article on the Hammer siblings.
I saw Max Hammer (yes, really his name) ski at Stowe way back on November 29, 2009.
He had recently been on the U.S. Ski Team -- IIRC his best FIS points were in SG.
The way he was skiing on the lower sections of Stowe, sure, I can ski about that way too: when the terrain is groomed, and I'm on my alpine downhill race gear.
But this was that weird November, when Stowe had given up on any lift-served skiing over Thanksgiving ... yet then it snowed a couple feet or so. (I stayed the prior night at their somewhat fancy place at the Tollhouse base for something like $45 -- eerily deserted.)
We had the entire resort "open" just to us, earning turns, with a big crew from Famous Internet Skiers.
By around mid-day or so, the snow was started to get a bit tricky down low, even with early-rise tips and somewhat wide waists.
But Max was on some ancient Rossignol 4G straight gs skis that had been dug up the prior night and mounted with Diamirs.
Everyone was skiing for the camera to some extent, but we all looked pretty much like gapers compared to Max.
The article says he's in Almost Ablaze -- must be spectacular!

Any maggots know any spots in or around Killington where Heady Toppers are sold presently ?
Here, let me help you http://bit.ly/1tFQL7r
we were in the mines cabin when those guys showed up. it was a full-on blizzard outside and we were taking our time, drinking coffee and enjoying the storm after an exhausting previous day. then these guys show up at the door, caked in snow and frozen. they came in to de-thaw themselves and the camera gear - told us the birches were already 'utah deep' so we got on it. super nice guys, we gave them some beers then they showed up the next day with a case. they got some shots in the birches, the gully directly behind the cabin and then i think over in eagle bowl the next day - which was bluebird. looking forward to checking out the article.
i've been following the photograper on instagram since http://instagram.com/willwiss
was probably the one of the best days of last year, but definitely not 'all-time' as most of the bowls didn't have enough base due to lack of snow and strong wind when the snow did fall. snagged the cabin for early april this year
Curious when you were there. We were in 2/15-18/14. Good storm then, but you must have been after as the storm we hit was the first one in a while that year. Will be back in the Cabin for Presidents Day Weekend again this year with a crew of maggots.
Hey with Laser gone what are we gonna do for the next thread?
Cat: We were there from the 12th to the 15th of March, 2014
A wild windy weekend around here. I have a yard full of branchlets and every loose leaf was removed. Now that the front is almost past we are looking at a fine week of Indian Summer.
Rode so much over the weekend it went by in a blur
Share the trail
Mom is always watching
Relaxing on the deck at the end of the weekend
It's the last day of Summer so enjoy it while it lasts.

Any Ullrfest news? Haven't seen the separate thread yet. Noticed the vines are already yellow in Eastern Ma this morning.
Laser ought to name a successor, If he's done. This year's didn't start until 10.21.13. We have time.
Sure looked lean...it looks like you guys got into the shrubbery way early. Never seen a Cleavage run so thin.
My three trips all involved the last snow-machine gear shuttle, mid-late April. Cover was always good and smetimes over abundant...big-time slides for the first two days during one trip.
The sad truth is that whine does not age well
The leaves be changin fast this yar. Yup.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.</p>
It's not the top of the page, but it is page 311 and all this talk of a new ECRC thread:
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.
This worked well last year so asking again for some suggestions. The lady and I are renting a place in Waterbury next week. We know about Prohibition Pig, have plans to go back again to Hen of the Woods (delicious!) and are going to Hill Farmstead. Open to suggestions on timing for when to go to HF and any other places to go and see. Would dig finding some waterfall and other places for seasonal scenery if anyone has special suggestions. Thanks.
Shelburne Farms is a great visit and the scenery is amazing, overlooking the lake and ADK's.
A good day would be morning to the Moss Glen Falls in the Granville Gulf south on Rt. 100... then continue into Rochester 10 miles to the Cafe for brunch, then 125 west into Middlebury, then 7 north to Shelburne Farms for dinner/sunset. Lincoln Gap has Sunset Ledge hike which would be great in the foliage, too... tough choices, but fun all around.
If you do the Sunset Ledge hike, you should then drive down thru Lincoln, and into Bristol to the Bobcat Cafe for dinner and brews... very tasty.
