Sorry to spam the boards, but given all the quirky New Hampshire/Mainiac history I found doing this story on the Farmer's Almanac, I thought you guys would enjoy this: http://www.tetongravity.com/story/sk...manac-forecast

^^^ don't let the Amish fool you, man. That's what they want. I was doing some field work at centennial woods yesterday. Showed a jogger from the cape the way out after a supposed bear encounter. He was freaked.

But it is great for small kids since there are barely any waves in this location tucked in on the north side of Cape Ann.
I remember going there once when I was in high school...very shallow for a long way out. Great for kids for sure. I remember there were Horseshoe Crabs everywhere.
I must be drinking too much IPA...isn't that the Atlantic ocean to the left of the pic? Trying to wrap my head around how that view is to the NE??? Not sharpshooting, trying to get to 600 posts.

Breakfast time pecking, must have found the mother load buffet.
Tonight's wildlife hassle occurred while I was enjoying a cold beer watching the moonrise. I heard a bit of noise and discovered a bear ripping through the trash I had placed in my truck bed to drop off tomorrow. Fucking prick scratched the paint getting in and out. Not looking forward to picking everything up in the morning.

Unfortunately there are very few horseshoe crabs these days. However there were more hermit crabs this year than I've ever seen before. Almost every snail shells the kids picked up either still had a snail of had a hermit crab in it.

    Your not that drunk
It is the Atlantic ocean to the left in the picture. Although, technically it is Ipswich Bay. Wingaersheek Beech is on the north side of Cape Ann and generally faces NNE. Here is a Google map with a line connecting the line of sight in the picture above. The upper right end of the line is where the lighthouse is.

VTF- Sorry about the truck man. Did you tell him to go back to slide brook? I thought there was a clear line drawn up and they were supposed to stay there, we weren't allowed to get chairlifts. This aggression shall not stand!

Not to beat this map lesson into the ground, but technically that is Coffin Beach you took the shot of the light from. that is my playground so I thought I'd chime in. Meanwhile I am headed to the NEK this weekend for some biking and fishing, so it looks like we live inverse lives.

Technically it is, but VERY few people refer to it as such (probably due to the morbid name). For the sake of nitpicky clarification , the public Wingaersheek Beach is on the Annisquam side of the rocky point in the above picture. It has a long sandbar that parallels the river and reaches out almost to the lighthouse at low tide.
Coffin Beach (private access) is the long section between the rocky point and the Essex River.
Where do you play there? I've been going there since before I was born.

Ipswich and Annisquam. We were in Ipswich during those storms Saturday, got off the beach 15 minutes before the unfortunate strikes. Those storms popped up quickly for those not paying attention and there were no lifeguards on duty to tell anyone to go home. The second storms had the microburst and toppled a bunch of huge trees all around us. We were very lucky. I'll be at Burke again every weekend and holiday this winter, so I will have to give you a shout.

You can try the Retreat Trails as they provide a map. For easy riding the west river trail is an out and back.

If you have time for a short drive to Keene, the drummer hill trails are great

Japans version of an New Kids style of band. They were in MTL last month at the Metal Fest.

At this point I think I am on board or the ESAW program.

    Yo Buttah!

I want to get my xc on this year. What's that spot you hit near Okemo? If I want to do any classic is Viking the best? Had sweet pow ski dreams the last two nights but I'm trying to broaden my horizons and hope to get at least a few days of roly-poly skating in. And swinging an ice axe or two wouldn't be bad either. SoVT is one of the the two trips in my calendar so far, so stoked for the Magic of winter.

edit to add: yes, no one gives a shit about a bike ride x2.
