Should I start drinking from now until the first big dump to put the anti-jinx into effect or can I wait till noon?

    ^^^ its noon somewhere 24/7...

May be splittibg hairs but I don't think an anti-jinx technically is necessary because I didn't declare "the winter of all winters" I merely asked if it could be?

But if you feel the need, by all means drink up and no one here will judge you for starting now. I will pray for your liver!

    Cool light show shots!

I was in NE MASS right next to the beach when the storms rolled through. We actually had two sets of storms. One at 3:00 and another at 4:35. Both were loaded with lightning and had some seriously honkin' winds. Unfortunately, two women were struck by lightning at Crane's Beach just 3 miles north of us. http://www.boston.com/news/local/mas...VCO/story.html

Beauty Beach Day before the storms:

    Storm 1:

    Between the storms:

Storm2 Incoming (much more dramatic entrance than storm 1):

    [url=https://flic.kr/p/p8nvio]

    After the Storms:

The number of idiots standing around on the beaches when these storms roll in is astounding. Especially when lightning is cracking all around. Down on the beach, just below the house I was in, there was a family with several very small kids just standing around watching the storms approach (they did this with BOTH rounds of storms). They stood there until they got hit with raindrops and then scrambled to shelter (which couldn't have been closer than a 3 minute fast walk). Then their shit gets blown all over the beach (you can see their overturned chairs in the picture with the blowing flag) .

^^^thanks, your pics are impressive also and yes that was on the news!! Vibes to the families affected! Pretty amazing just how stupid people can be with things this deadly. Before I knew better I probably would have been out there too 😱
Why don't you go practice fallin' down? I'll be there in a minute.

Great pics NEK... Annisquam? Those are good windsurf'n winds... but the lightening might make it unfun. One of the women injured, is from my town, but no one here seems to know who it was. UPDATE: Looks like one woman has died and the woman from my town remains in critical condition. Vibes to the families...

I took a shot from our bedroom and after several attempts, got a bolt. It was an intense and active series of storms:

Nice shots both you guys. Impressed catching lightning. Never tried, but I would guess it is hard.

Hey BD what are you doing to the trees in your back yard?

Cat, that's from the agent orange that leaked out from my storage containers... (or blame the f'n beaver from three years ago!) The town still won't take down the dam, so I have waterfront property now.

Don't worry, Empire is as accurate as any long range forecast. In fact, I'd say it's probably dead right... lol.

Looks like a mosquito infested swamp. ie Ma. wetlands. And I think that forecast is, just right!

Amazingly, we have very few. I think the duckweed that makes it so bright green, covers every square inch and prevents mosquitoes from breeding? That and the occasional blast with napalm keeps them at bay...

but yes, it is definitely a swamp now or as we would prefer to call it, a blue heron rookery/bird sanctuary.

Very tasty, they are. Rudely awoken by a coyote yipping this morning, sure is nice out though.

I was quite rudely awoken at 5:13 by a very unhappy Pileated, guessing hooty might have had a youngin' as his breakfast.

Montana getting the season started early, could smell it in the air this morning.

Enjoyed another day in the woods, good brew, good cigars, good company.

Saw some critter sign, but no critters aside from quite a following of birds. Looked like they were all were bug eaters. They stayed about 40 yards behind the whole time betwen 3100 and 3400.

Did find a nest that was quite askew, loose from its moorings. Looks like something climbed up and ate the eggs this past Spring.

I like that. Think I'm going to call the wetlands behind my house a "blue heron rookery/bird sanctuary." We're right by the Stop River, which feeds into the Charles. No such luck on the lack of mosquitoes though. Those things are everywhere. Contemplating building a bat house, but I'm not sure how much that would really help.

Nice lightning shot. I was too impatient

Sad to hear about the conditions of the people that got struck.

And you are close with the Annisquam guess. I was actually just across the river on the Wingaersheek Beech side.

Here is the view looking NE toward the Annisquam lighthouse.

Rog would hate this beach. The surfing sucks .
But it is great for small kids since there are barely any waves in this location tucked in on the north side of Cape Ann.

Bats can make a serious impact. I have six bat houses (bought one and built the rest). Haven't taken the zapper thingy out of the garage in years.
