Yo cheez, not from here. Colorado implant. Notchtop is from RMNP touring, lake Helene etc. good work of you can get it. Sometimes long for hme, sometime find it rad to be here. Such is life.
Solid pic. Looks like a good time. That's not in my back yard is it? My one regret about the Beartooths is tht its a fucking death march to have a nice tour (on my side).
Bringing back memories ... Black lake to halfway up the trough on longs in RMNP, on bc 65 rossi skinnies ... Damn that sounds good ... Come on snow.

And right now up at Bridger ...

I guess what I was saying about some trees starting to turn wasn't so far off. This early, cold and wet weather is good omen for the season, right?

You know that snow will just create a weak layer that will haunt us the rest of the summer.

    WOOHOO! We win!!!

I know it's only August, and I should supposedly be sad about the end of summer, but I can't help myself. I always get so excited at the first sight of a snowflake.

We went up yesterday to inspect the snowpack. All of our stability tests showed that things were ready to break out all the way to the ground. We backed off and decided to play it safe .... live to ski another day. Andesite can be a cruel bitch this time of year.

    HA!

I compiled this page full of WEBCAMS from throughout the state (no spam here! I made this for myself and thought you maggots would enjoy it as well). I just read the source codes and the links to their cams, then put them in one place

Anyone have feedback to contribute on this issue?

I don't necessarily want to start a new thread on the subject, but there are some smart Gallatin/Madison County folks in this thread that might have valuable opinions on the subject, and I'd like to get some feedback outside of my bubble.

    Looking at you, Harry.

Dunno how smart I am but I will give you my 2 cents and possibly a Nickle.

Big Sky has some issues, no doubt.

The County line being where it is makes for some interesting dynamics from a property tax perspective. Madison and Gallatin Counties work well together but I feel that both covet that tax base.

The unincorporated status of Big Sky also add to the chaos and I am not sure how willing BSOA is to give up the power they wield.

The word is that the water system other than the newer parts that have been built over the past 7-10 years is in rough shape with leaking pipes etc.

The septic issue has been dealt with for now but as more and more homes and possibly large hotels come online it may become overwhelmed again.

There is still the fact that many of the homes are on well water and septic fields.

The school system seems very well funded and in fine shape.

Same with the BSFD and what with the new medical center at least good quality emergent medical care will be much closer now.

Big Sky is facing another growth spurt and hopefully these smart people are ahead of the curve and they plan for the "worst".

The first I heard of this TEDD/TIF business was in that article. My initial response would be very much the same as Bunion's.

Not having any local city government combined with a county line cutting right through the middle makes for a dysfunctional situation.

Combine that with this being more or less a company town, look at all the senior Boyne employees who pack the Board of BSOA.

I also look at difference between the sales tax districts of Whitefish and Big Sky. Whitefish spent their sales tax money on a state-of-the-art fitness and aquatic center plus a cool network of cycling trails. Big Sky took its sales tax money and gave it to Boynes marketing dept to promote THE BIGGEST SKIING IN AMERICA !

Also in that article: Simkins saying the money could be used to build sidewalks and such. What a joke. He owns all the town center land, why should he pay for sidewalks as he develops his commercial property if he can just stiff the taxpayers to build it for him ?

Affordable housing ? The main problem is Boyne bringing in Cambodians and Peruvians on temp work visa's to drive the labor wages into the dirt. I saw a job advertised in the Lone Peak Lookout for $8 per hour last week. There is no such thing as affordable housing at that wage.

    Not many easy answers.
