Headed to MT again this winter, this time to spend 5 days at the Bell Lake Yurt in the Tobacco Roots in February. We have a few days on either end, and are planning to hit Bridger, Big Sky, or some additional BC.

Bridger lift tickets are damn cheap and I love that mountain. Some other folks in my crew wanted to check out the Really Big Sky, but damn are lift tickets expensive. Looks the Frequent Sky Card is already out of the question ($179!) for only 2 days of lift tickets (http://bigskyresort.com/the-mountain...cards/sky-card). And I missed the TGR film premieres for any other cheap tix. Any other recs for finding discounts on BS lift tickets??

Last year they lowered the price of the frequent skier card back to like $79 or so with a code after the initial raise. I didn't buy it initially but did with the code. I can't remember when they did it though.

The big sky two for ones that they were handing out for the tgr movie are only good through the end of the year

There's a chick on NS saying she's an employee and can get half priced tickets, not sure if she's just doing it if you have cred over there, but worth checking out.

Should I hold off on buying a new snowblower? Will putting my snow tires back on jinx us all? I enjoyed hiking in the 70 degree weather yesterday and have enjoyed our longer than normal fall and everything, but I'm sure ready for winter!

How often are those models correct? They are vastly generalized and usually intended to generate clicks. Given that it is a NOAA forecast, it does add a bit of credibility. But still...

Remember last year? A lot of other places had full on suck town and Bridger/Big Sky quietly had a very nice season. Don't hold your breath just yet. Probably a late season start followed by the typical flip-the-switch winter, which will come hard and fast.

    Patience...

Most of the long range models that've been put out this fall are more or less just spitting out a generic El Niño pattern. Although it's looking likely that a weak nino is going to develop at some point in the near future most of these winter outlooks are overestimated the effect that enso will have on the overall pattern this winter in my opinion

Snowed hard, maybe 2 or 3 inches in the mountain village this afternoon, but it's not very cold out.

Just a heads up that summit bike in bozeman has their annual sale going on, half off items under $100, 20% off over $100, and good prices on 2014 bikes.
