Anyone know what ripped on Berthoud today? Got pics? Heard someone triggered a slide that was visible from the summit parking lot, and that they deployed their airbag. I'm guessing it was something from Rush 1 over to Nitro?

Probably the same spot that catches people off guard each year or so.

Looked to be around Nitro where they triggered. That is a line I haven't ridden there so I am not 100% sure but think that is where it was. Crown at the top where all the wind loading is was pretty deep on the convexity. Maybe 5-6 feet? Looked like a soil your shorts ride. Glad the skier got out okay. Not a lot a great decisions putting himself in that spot. A close call is about the best result you can have.

I took a few photos. I'll try to throw them up a little later if no one beats me to it.

That's definitely Nitro. Would not be a fun place to take a ride.

Huh. That was a fairly light-hearted, "no biggie" type vibe in that story. Especially after two large (with one being fatal) slides in East Vail recently. I don't wanna say CBS local is glamorizing it...but they kinda did.

I thought that too. I couldn't tell if it was jsut the reporting/editing or if the skier actually had a "no biggie" kinda attitude towards it.

Maybe things were happening too fast, but the way he says "so I decided to straightline over the cliff" I'm wondering why he wouldn't try to stop and let the slide run its course?

Killclimbz's photos definitely show the crown line above where the skier was at when it was triggered. Pretty sure he was going off that cliff no matter what.
