YUP!!! Great day getting meadow skippy in CC. One of my better days on the pass in recent memory. Flakes were still falling on my way down…should be good leftovers tomorrow.

Gave a guy a ride up the pass yesterday who said he set of something decent-sized in the 110s. Hopefully he gets it reported to the CAIC.
Was also interesting to see all the storm snow that slid off wall to wall on the east-facing road cuts.

As I'm sure many have seen on CAIC, we lost a member of our small community on New Years Eve. Rest In Peace, Georgio.

I still can't believe it was George. I was hoping to get a few days in with him on the pass this month. Had a couple great outings with him last spring. RIP brother.
Sorry for your loss guys. Bummer.
Condolences to all who knew him. I only knew him through his posts here.

RIP George. This one hits close to home. Does anyone have a picture of George they would be willing to share. I've swapped PMs and email with him over the course of the last few years. We've decided that we didn't know each other but I can't be sure. He was one of the rare few people from the internet I was excited to me and looking forward to sharing some turns with. We have a very small community of dedicated backcountry skiers here in the Fraser Valley and it sounds like we lost a good one. Best wishes to friends and family.

Sorry to for your loss for those that knew him. I never met him, but enjoyed his contributions here.
Here is a picture I took of him last year. He was using skis as he had trashed his split. Wasn't quite as secure on skis as he is on a board. Dude had one of the most hilarious crashes I have seen coming out of Y chute that day. I have great POV footage of it.
He is a good one. No doubt.

Areas in Floral Park were very reactive yesterday. Like sweep you down the mountain if you aren't anticipating it. Hoping people keep it safe out there.
Terrible news. Vibes to George's family and the Fraser community.
this sucks. Vibes to his family and friends.
definitely seen him and his pup running around the area multiple times, that's a shame... vibes.
Rest Easy GD.
Sad to hear. I've taken a few runs with George at the pass.
Play it safe everyone.
Very sad to hear, I always looked forward to his reports. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Anyone know what will happen to http://grandlin.es/ ?
I don't know about others, but if we can get access to the admin site, I would be more than happy to continue supporting and possibly developing the site further. I think it's a great resource and I would hate to see it disappear. If anyone else would like to help, send me a PM and let's see what we can do.
Really sucks. Vibes to his family, friends, and Diesel.

Aw crap, rest easy George, we enjoyed hanging out with you on this rock.
I'm trying to collect contact information for people that knew George so we can let everyone know about the memorial service. Please PM me your contact information. Thanks
I didn't not know George and made my first turns off Berthoud last year (well except as a kid in the 70's when they were running buses) but I found his posts to be consistently fun and valuable. And the Grand Lines site is excellent, a real testament to his knowledge, dedication and sense of community; I'd already started gleaning info. for some more runs this spring. Hope it can continue in some way.
I am very sorry for those he left behind, he was clearly a very special person

Just met George a couple months ago at a happy hour. Could tell he was the kind of person I would have really enjoyed getting to know.
For anyone heading up to the Pass early tomorrow morning, CDOT plans to blast at sunrise.
Skied the pass Saturday. First off, people need to learn how to park at the top. 7-10' of room on each side of a car is unnecessary. When every other car does this, it REALLY cuts down on how many cars can fit up there!
Saw naturals on SE Russell (not sure if that was from the earlier slide ther, Rush, the Roll, Postage Stamp, CC Cirque, then the whole face between Hourglass and Corner Pocket. Some big whoomps in the meadows near Perfect trees and while hiking up that side. Wind wasn't nearly as bad as forecasted, so it got pretty toasty in the sun. Wind slabs were getting thick, got some small stuff to go in the 90s about 12" deep. I left the camera because I thought it was going to be cloudy/windy all day, but it turned out to be pretty nice.
Has anybody happened to find a pair of black BD Mohair skins cut for a 188cm ski...? Lost 'em on Aqueduct.
