A few pics of my Cooke City yurt trip over the weekend. It hadn't snowed in a while but we got 6-8" inches on Monday. 3 days of bluebird skies and one day of snow. I'll be back. (Many photos courtesy of Beau Freudlund of Beartooth Powder).

    Come on snow today!!!!!

The upper mountain can be amazingly good skiing, all to yourself. The Mt. Lockhart snotel is in the next drainage south and provides a look at snowfall if they are not updating the website during the week. That drainage also has adequate touring and is designated by the FS for non-motorized travel only. The 2007 fire opened up a ton of skiing on No Name and to the north of the area. And yeah, the views are truly amazing.
Teton Pass is worth the trip. They really need our support if they are going to continue operating next year. They are on half a shoestring budget and every customer counts. Go there. Buy a lift ticket. Hike to the top. Buy drinks in the bar.
Yeah, we parked next to the lift. There was NO ONE there. There were good lines to be hand and we found some good un-tracked blow-in that was fresh all day long. This place is a gem. Usually I don't like to give away stashes, but I want this place to stay open. Oh, and the food is killer and they have a great tap beer selection.

406, I feel the same way about usually not wanting to give away stashes, but more skiers would actually help that place out.

    Some more Teton Pass stoke:

Bunion, I have Sun-Tues off, but have been injured and not working or skiing for a few weeks. Hence me posting here in the middle of the day. I'd like to take some runs with you when I'm back at it.

Teton pass is great, deffinetly worth the trip. Tons of backcountry from the lift and endless amounts just beyond that. I live in helena and regularly choose teton over disco, showdown, and the rock. Check out the jack and Jill randonee race they hold in March. Great prizes and a good time.

Yep. Big sky didn't suck yesterday. Big C looked nice but didn't want to play the waiting game for tram line the rest of day. A couple guys skied big and then ducked over to dobie's(sp?) and were about to drop when we were above them. Looked good with the wind blown. Dakota rode great with good snow and no one there like usual. Wish I would've made it to the Bridger bluebird powday junkshow today

You guys that want to help keep a place like Teton Pass open should post the stoke in the main page rather than this regional one to so it gets more exposure. That place looks great!

Great powder at Disco Saturday on the back side. Lots 'o fun.

Snowbowl and Great Divide are also closed Wed. and Thurs. due to cold.

And then you have Big Sky, which posts a photo on Facebook with the headline "Beautiful Bluebird Powder Day" with no mention of the fact that it's -10, LOL. I went down there for one of those -20 days early season and it sucked, the snow was creaky and grabby and totally not worth it. But whatever. It's always a great day to ski Big Sky according to their marketing dept. (And, I'm sure, some hardy folks are indeed having a good time there today, just not me because I'm a wimp.)

Did 5 days of resort skiing along I-90 Jan 29-Feb 2. Posted Lookout, Snowbowl, and Discovery in the Missoula thread.

Day 3, I-90 exit 306. Bridger picked up an additional 6 inches on top of the foot and a half from the last few days. After ski beer at 406 brewing Co, with a growler fill of the winter ale. Dinner was wood fired pizza from Pizza Campania, I got the bison sausage topped pizza.

Took a few warm up runs and then started hiking the ridge. First drop in spot:

Couple firm turns at the top, but then got nice and soft:

    Deep at the bottom:

Next we went over to Schlasman lift for a few runs. Really fun terrain and good snow.

Hiked up from Schlasman for a run. Last run of the day hike up to 4th finger. It was truly last run and patrol showed up as we clicked in. Gotta love the avalanche pups:

Day 4, I-90 exit 274. Big Sky has also been getting snow from the storms. They had 6" of new. No crowds, partly sunny...it was going to be a good day. Bison Corral burgers for dinner and Lone Peak brewing winter ale for post ski beers.

Started out with a few runs on challenger:

Next we went down the Big Couloir twice:

Went up the tram one more time to ski the bowl and then spent the rest of the day checking out powder stashes. I love Big Sky.

    Awesome trip.

Cannot believe there is only 2 tracks in BRT, dig that line. You hit it in great conditions looks like. That place it fucking fun when the wind smooths it out and then 6" fall with some sun. Uber fast turns to be had.

    2 weeks...

    BS/MLB - 24, 25, 26
    J-Hole - 27, 28
    Targhee 3/1, 2

Should be a blast! I'm flying solo this year, so if anyone wants to grab a few turns or a beer...

    MT bringing the stoke. Hard.

I'm anxious to get back out there this weekend. Spent last weekend in the Tetons, and while fun, I'm again reminded of how good we have it here at Bridger and Big Sky. Don't tell anyone ...
