Just back from Cooke, here's a few shots.

Drive slow, homie.
Most excellent!
So will that be available to all maggots or just the YC patrons?
Open to all the unwashed masses.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

word on the street is that Boyne will make the Moonlight Lodge private... Ahhh
My wife has a Sky Card, which is supposed to get her a $20 discount on the $99 day ticket, so $79. Yet on Friday they charged her only $59 and on Saturday $69. I don't see anything on their website about discounted ticket prices these days, so what's with the random pricing? Not complaining but I'm just curious what is going on if anybody knows anything.

Getting hot cocoa at the Moonlight Lodge right now. Got stuck halfway up the triple this morning for a wind hold event, about froze my digits off...

I don't know what it means, but it sounds pretty cool. From NWS:
"Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon...A strong 160 kt
300mb jet streak will push into the Pacific Northwest by Wednesday
morning and will undercut a highly amplified upper level ridge
that extends northward into Alaska. Consequently, the jet will not
be associated with a deep or sharp trough axis which will limit
the overall upper level forcing for ascent. However, what is
impressive regarding this storm is the moisture associated with
it...precipitable water values over Great Falls will peak near
0.50 inches which, climatologically, is near the 95th percentile
and is around 2 standard deviations above the mean for the end of
January. Confidence for these anomalously high values is high
given the impressive plume of subtropical moisture originating
near Hawaii and streaming into the Pacific Northwest. Snow will
likely overspread much of north-central Montana after 15 or 16z,
except for favored downsloping regions east of the Rocky Mountain
Front. Time-height sections for GTF indicate deep negative omega
from the surface up to 300mb between 16z/Wednesday and
09z/Thursday with values peaking near 12 microbars/s. The snow
will become lighter Thursday morning but will continue into the
afternoon as the dendritic snow growth region expands to near
200mb in depth, pushing snow ratio up near 20:1."

Anyone ever ski Teton Pass west of Choteau? Went up Friday with my lady. Awesome little hill with excellent backcountry from the top of the lift. From the top of the false summit of Mt. Lockhart to the lodge is about 2,300 vertical feet, most of that steeps above the area. We just did about a 600-foot tour through some safe low-angle stuff as the avy conditions are for real right now, but the potential had my mouth watering. The snow was old and wind-buffed but still a lot of fun. Amazing views too.
They're doing free tours the next five weekends if you want to learn the terrain or are new to backcountry.

It is a nice mountain and definitely worth a trip. Super scenic up there. I love that country on the Rocky Mountain Front. We stayed at the Stage Stop Inn in Choteau, which has a nice indoor pool. It's a bit of a drive to the mountain from Choteau but no big deal. A long weekend like President's Day might be a good time to go because everywhere else will be packed.
I lived there for a few years. I think I posted a handful of pictures a couple of pages back in this thread. The place is super cool. The upper mountain can be amazingly good skiing, all to yourself. The Mt. Lockhart snotel is in the next drainage south and provides a look at snowfall if they are not updating the website during the week. That drainage also has adequate touring and is designated by the FS for non-motorized travel only. The 2007 fire opened up a ton of skiing on No Name and to the north of the area. And yeah, the views are truly amazing.
Teton Pass is worth the trip. They really need our support if they are going to continue operating next year. They are on half a shoestring budget and every customer counts. Go there. Buy a lift ticket. Hike to the top. Buy drinks in the bar.

Yeah, getting stuck on lifts sucks. Had that happen to me on New Years day; I caught last chair with a patroller on Lone tree, and the lift stopped for no apparent reason when we were about 4 chairs from the top. We were the only ones on the chair. We were sitting there for about 20 minutes or half an hour by the time they got it going again.
