i say we say fuck alta and get about 100 boarders together dressed in black ninja outfits and overrun the place from the top down and after we take out a skier we slap a "alta is for nazis -- and shitty skiers" on their knit caps.
I've been trying to refrain from responding to the typical skier drivel and trolling, but MAN you guys make it so difficult with your ignorant, closed minded and antiquated mentalities. Most of you are the equivalent of the 7-11 clerks that chased me away when I was skating and tried to confiscate my board.
News flash...Most skiers are super lame, snowboarding SAVED skiing, and 90% of skiers are ultra-gapers that are WAY more dangerous than any boarder I've ever met.
Whew...I feel much better. Please resume your lame snowboarder flaming.

DBS has been hitting the gym. Respeck!
Out of 427 ski areas in the US you're worried about 1...seems a bit elitist to me...
Having skied Alta and boarded and skied Brighten, I couldn't, and still can't, figure out why boarders are butthurt over this, whiny little bitches!
Alta should have never done a combined ticked with the Snowbird.
Goodbye 'no shoes, no shirt, no service.'
This could be a real revolution. If they win this, then will any rules constraining any type of use on public lands will be deemed violating a "particular class of individuals from use and enjoyment of public land?" Mountain bikers, snowmobilers, ATVers, motocyclists, etc, etc. All those access rules are discriminatory.
The really funny part will come if snowboarders are indeed allowed at Alta. Most skiers will probably just shrug their shoulders and the snowboarders will then commence complaining about how the terrain sucks and stick with shredding the bird anyway. Just a bunch of posturing that is a big fat waste of everyones time and money. Good thing BJ Leines' daddy has lots of it!
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature... Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. -Helen Keller
you mean snowboarding ruined skiing...got more people on the hill.
now get off my lawn
I wear crocs for the style, not the comfort.
Don't be mad because you know it's true. Don't get me wrong all the great skiers would have continued crushing and I absolutely admire everyone of them...but all this X games stuff came from boarding>skating>surfing. You guys would still be doing daffy's, spread eagles and those 180 twist thingy's in tight pants or talking about how awesome ski racing is. We've been getting sh*t on and spit on since the start, all the while being copied in pretty much most aspects of the sport.
Most of my riding heroes are SKIERS..but I don't see any kind of hating coming out of their mouth like you see in that Alta video. I love skiing, just not most skiers.
Also I didn't need to make an argument since you guys were making it for me well enough. Honestly...I could care less about riding Alta..it keeps all the conceited skiers in one place.

It's not the bible, but this nugget is interesting.
Are the rates of collisions among skiers and snowboarders on the rise?
According to Dr. Jasper Shealy, professor emeritus at the Rochester Institute of
Technology in Rochester, N.Y., who has studied ski related injuries for more than 30 years, the
number of collisions accidents with other skiers or snowboarders accounts for only 6.4 percent
of reported accidents. Dr. Shealy’s research also confirmed that alpine skiers are three times
more likely to be involved in a collision with other people than snowboarders.
Is the number of ski injuries increasing?
No. According to Dr. Shealy, the overall rate of reported skiing injuries has declined by
50 percent since the early 1970s. The once-feared broken lower leg from skiing is now a thing
of the past, declining more than 95 percent since the early 1970s. The overall rate of reported
alpine ski injuries as of the year 2000 remains essentially the same as 10 years ago—2.63
reported injuries per 1,000 skier visits."
Similar to the national discussion on cannabis reform, it seems that some here may be overstating the terror of sharing slopes with snowboarders.
a new film has been released that covers all the gnar geriatric haters at alta called SLEEP!
A study presented at the Ninth
International Symposium on Skiing Trauma and Safety in 1993
indicated that 7.7 percent of all
ski injuries are the result of skiers running into skiers, while only 2.6 percent of snowboards.
I'm all for letting Snowboarder's on at Alta. But using research from 1993 is just stupid.
Probably different at each mountain but @ my ski hill I would put it at more than 3X skier/snowboard ratio.
For the record I have not one thing against snowboarders(1 of my main ski partners is a boarder). But I do think that snowboards are very limiting for anything but down. And as far as I'm concerned Alta can lick my unwiped sphinct, with or without boarders, so I'm not defending their policies. But BroM you're gonna have a hard time convincing me that more collisions happen to skiers out of anything but pure #'s, when snowboarders have their backs to 1/2 of the fall line. Just doesn't make sense. Maybe you're misinterpreting the facts, if those are really even facts at all.
FWIW, I've had more problems on the hill with other skiers than I've ever had with boarders, but that has more to do with slow traversing and not having proper etiquette to get the fuck out of the way when faster traffic is coming through or stopping and standing on traverse when traffic is coming through.
I'm sure it's been said, but skiing Alta is the first time I've enjoyed skiing a mogul field in 16 years. Moguls aren't my favorite thing about skiing, but there's no question snowboarding changes the terrain. I dig the idea of old-school moguls existing somewhere on the planet. Maybe you just ban boarders on a run like Bear Trap for the first 3 months of the season until the bumps take shape?
I think it's ironic that 98% of you don't even live in Utah. If you did you might not sound like the complete douche's you do. We have a saying around here. It goes......You don't shit in my backyard and I won't shit in yours. Problem around here is too many people who could give a shit about our mtns and our peoples have too big of say when it comes to those two things. You are all case in point.
Powdergoat. The only thing worse than some fucking tourists telling us what's best for our mtns is some douche who comes here for the winter, shits in our backyard then leaves. What's the saying.....Tribe Up.
Fact of the matter is Alta is a beautiful hill at the top of one of the most beautiful canyons in the world. It accesses some of the best BC terrain in the state. Currently Alta has used it's profits from leasing FS land to buy up surrounding private mining claims and has plans to expand into what is probably the most heavily publicly used part of the Wasatch. Access is important, whether it's access to a beach, a climbing spot, or a mountain. Now, if you stupid heads lived here you would fucking know that.
