when the usfs leases land for grazing, can I go run around harassing the cattle? When the USFS leases land for logging can I go stand around in the way preventing the lessee from safely falling trees?

There's miles and miles of DOD land, that's public land. Can I go hike around Dugway? Why not? It's PUBLIC LAND!!!

Some of my best friends are snowboarders. I guess since you can't go to Deer Valley or Alta you can't grasp the concept that the two separate groups move, turn, and flow entirely differently. Without exception, I'll be skiing at those two areas and think, what a great day! What is different? Oh yeah. No boarders. Seriously, many fine people are board, I don't have anything against them as individuals. but hell, they just move differently and can be a menace. Sorry that my two examples are an inconvenient truth, but they are my inconvenient truths, if anything.

I have a pass at Canyons, and I really don't have a problem sharing the hill, except when a few boarders traverse the shit out of a bowl, destroying the pow. It's lame.

Ultimately, given the plans underway for various degrees of a Wasatch Interconnect, I think it's inevitable that when the interconnect comes to fruition boarders will be allowed everywhere.

i rode like an asshole a couple of times friday. after 3 years of barely being able to ride i just want to bomb everything with long turns catching air on rollovers. some people -- all skiers to this point -- seem to think it is their duty to cut boarders off with extra wide turns that literally take up the entire run making it difficult to pass. i had two old fuckers decide they were taking the same line i was no matter where i went. i finally blew by them and then did my face plant at the bottom of the cascade lift only to look up and see them giving me stern looks.

anyway, i didn't cut anybody off, but i knew where i wanted to go and some people dick around forever deciding how they are going DOWN and i just go.

also rode the lift with an old wrinkled lady with alta stickers on her skis. i was so close to asking "is it true that alta is for nazis?" and if she hadn't been so close to death already i would have.

which reminds of the time i was working in costa rica and three friends and i decided to attend the opening of an austrian brewery in san jose in the 90s. we ended up at the bar next to an elderly couple and within a few minutes it was obvious that these two had said more than their share of heil hitlers. my friend just wanted to leave he was getting uncomfortable so i introduced him to them as my gay jewish lover and it was amazing. electric. it was like i could see their lives through their eyes at that moment and all i could do was laugh. and they looked at me like if it were only 50 some years earlier they wouldn't have to take that shit.

I saw the whole thing and didn't think she'd come away without injury. But she did. It was so traumatic though that she no longer wanted to ski and gave the sport up. She couldn't enjoy herself any longer with the sound of boards scraping behind her. It's really sad because at 8 she was quite the ripper, and begged to get out of school on powder days.

More recently I was skiing in a slow area conversing with friends going about 5 mph. A boarder hit me from behind so hard that it knocked me out of my bindings and knocked him out.

Do these Neanderthals need to take the last bastion of skiing greatness and ruin it too? Being snowboarders, it seems that they'd realize that they move differently, have less visibility when making heel side turns, and generally don't fit into the flow of skiers. I've been skiing 40-some years, and have yet to be nailed by a skier.

You know Dibbs, no one cares that you ski more pow, post more stoke, hook up more mags and have the perfect wife, a great dog, a man cave full of gear.
Now jealousy, that's a whole separate issue. And no one cares if you ski Alta.

Let's face it. This "suit" is all about people that are too lazy to learn how to SKI.
There's way more snowboarders-people who ride regularly- that can ski well, than there are skiers who can snowboard at all. Everyone's bitching about the lowest common denominator, people who ride once a year. In that vein, I've never been smacked in the face with a snowboard on the tram deck. I've had plenty of skiers nearly decapitate me stumbling around with their skis over their shoulder swinging every which way.

You're right but you need to read about the applicability of competing use - or lack thereof - in the Alta case.

So let me get this straight, snowboarders can ride at Alta, they can't use the lifts which are privately owned, they can ride the lifts with a ticket and skis on their feet, is this all correct?

This doesn't seem much different than a restaurant requiring a tie and jacket or a golf course requiring that all golfers use carts. People aren't prohibited from riding down the slopes of Alta on snowboards are they?

Why do these dumb knuckledraggers want to ride Alta so bad.

Alta sucks. It's flat and full of uphill traverses.
Based on your alias, I am I guessing that you are the most useless, retarded, fucking twat who ever graced the pages of tgr, and because of this, I am not going to read any part of this thread.

You're entire tgr existance is based on trolling one guy. That's just fucking brilliant friend. Problem is... I really don't think rog or anyone else gives a rats ass what kind of retarded half-brain vomit your missfiring neurons manage to regurgitate.

So please, do us all a massive favour and just leave, fuck off, never post here again.

    Thanx, bye!

I believe that the excuses given, primarily traverses, side-slipping and getting off of lifts (!?), are a bunch of garbage. The "you wouldn't like it anyway" line is a load of crap as well. The Schlasmans lift, and for that matter almost all of the ridge terrain, the High T and Goldilocks Traverse, at Bridger, are not set up for snowboarding but we find a way. Snowboarders would find a way to make it work, wether that be by setting in new bootpacks, setting different traverses or simply avoiding an area all together (a viable option!).

Shitty snowboarders and skiers are no different, they both fuck up great lines, traverses and unloads. Get over it; snowboarding is here to stay.

Either do a land-swap and acquire all of the land to make it private, or allow snowboarders access to the public lands Alta operates on.

The other day this black guy cut me off while driving, he was playing that hip hopper music and he looked like a gangster. I do not want black people now living in my neighborhood.

If it would only snow, this thread could die an ignominious death. Along with a few others.

I for one look forward to the day when all forms of glissade are welcome at Alta!

I'll be first in line with my flying saucer (prolly rock the jack jumper after my whiskey lunch)
