Its more than ok to say "snowboarding sucks" or "I hate snowboarders". Its nothing more than a stupid snow sport for christ sakes. Attempting to make it a human rights issue is not only dumb and delusional, the comparison is a big slap in the face to all the folks out there who really are victims of hate.

We at ALTA firmly believe in using public lands in a discriminatory manner to provide income for our families and a top notch skiing experience for our customers. We also believe than gen Y is rife with trouble, evidenced by this darned snowboarding movement. They cause a yet-to-be-measured - yet widely believed among high frequency skiers - phenomenon we call board plop. You see it deposits yet-to-be-measured - yet widely referenced among ski bigots - amounts of snow following sloppy, non-carve snowboard turns. We believe this phenomenon to be of utmost importance to our clientele. The fact that shitty skiers - which we have plenty of - do a similar thing to soft snow is not germane to this policy, no matter how relevant it seems.

You see, our clientele are not typical. They represent the single most anally retentive, prejudiced community of skiers in the United States. Why? Geography. You see, through our lease with the forest service we control arguably the best acreage in the country for sunny powder skiing. Second, we live in one of the more culturally homogenous and uneducated regions in the US. This wondrous combination - or lack thereof, ha!! - of diversity, education and overall common fucking sense allows us to continually wag our bare nuts at the entire snowboarding community!

Now, you may not appreciate our offensive exclusionary practice / questionable use of public land. But that doesn't matter because our asshat-douche parade is allowed to continue thanks to our loyal cadre of skier bigot clients, management and morally bankrupt, out of touch politicians. We're pretty sure the US Forest Service thinks we're pricks but that's ok.

The ALTA community, where pow gets shredded faster than any other resort in Utah (maybe even the US?). Where the snow turns to granules faster than you can call that damn neighbor of yours a homo. Now, despite this impressive rate of snow quality reduction we remain steadfast in our resolve to prevent generation y members from utilizing the public lands they own.

    Sincerely ALTA.

I mean, that's why you live in the shit hole that is SLC, right?

I had no idea Snowboarders weren't white, or that all skiers were. BklynT (who still lives in SLC I think) must be shocked.

Bromontana is a little bitch. If for instance Brighton or some other resort decided to be "Snowboard Only" I simply wouldn't go there... and get on with my life, not whine about it. MRG, Deer Valley, and Alta have made a choice. Deal with it. You're not missing out on anything in the grand scheme of things.

People have died and wars have started because of real discrimination. This is just pathetic and some bros just wants to be the remembered as the not even close to Rosa parks of snowboarding because all of his homies have already forgotten about his movie Segs and crappy headphones.

Alta is to blame too for their gay ass social media blowing up everyone's feed with mediocre hip skiing bringing attention to themselves. It snowed alot more when alta didn't have a facebook or instagram.

Brighton isn't close to Alta for inbounds terrain, naturally that's an easy bargaining chip. It's about the principle, location, ownership of land, etc. It's very easy to downplay the impact of exclusion when you're on the inside. That's been documented quite well over the last 100 years. The scale is obviously petty, but the principle is perfectly valid.

Besides, you really don't address the point, just its impact on your hypothetical, unequal counter.

I hope Alta doesn't let boarders in. Ha! Snowboarding is dying out on its own anyway because it is stupid. Snowboard gear sales are in decline and other factors point to it going down hill.

I gave up skiing for snowboarding in the nineties. I'm back to skiing, but also still snowboard.

Now I teach both for a local club. The only difference between the two is that kids learning to snowboard whine a lot less. I think this trait is passed on to adulthood.

Don't get me started on cross country skiing. Oh wait, that's half of the Alta experience.

Seria mejor que vuelves a repetir todas tus clases de rosetta stone. Quizas asi tu novia estaria mejor. O es quieres decir que tu novia es fea? Seria lo mas probable dado que eres un gillipollas del monton! If you can't properly use a language to express yourself, save us all from your dumbass comments in English or Castellano.

And by the way, I could care less if Alta was to allow snowboarding or not. I understand they operate on public land and realize how that can be an issue to many. But anyone who is privileged enough to participate in what are essentially luxury sports, should have a little perspective. Simply being able to slide down a hill on one board or two is awesome. Just enjoy it, wherever it might or might not be! These are absurd 1st world arguments. Many people in this world can barely get drinkable water, yet winter sport resorts pump it out at millions of gallons per minute to create fake snow for our enjoyment. And in the process create more greenhouse gases, exacerbating climate change. Complaining about where you can or cannot participate in such luxury activities is beyond ridiculous. And comparing Alta's skier only policy to the struggle for civil rights in the USA or the Nazis is beyond reprehensible in comparison to what those movements represent.

What??? WTF do young punks or even Gen Y have to do with snowboarding. Snowboarding is for older people than that. Snowboarders mostly took it up in the 90s when it was sort of cool. Now they're old. Trouble-rife kids these days ski. Gen Y kids are young hipster parents now, trying desperately to retain a veneer of coolness while turning in for bed at 9 pm.

"Millennials, or the Millennial Generation,[1] also known as Generation Y, are the demographic cohort following Generation X. There are no precise dates when the generation starts and ends. Commentators use beginning birth years from the early 1980s to the early 2000s" -wikipedia

-10 to +10 of your restricted range allows for a pretty significant generational impact.
