God has a built in survival formula that allows a small percentage of people and or organisms to survive any plague or epidemic.
clearly snowboarding is a plague on skiing and Alta is just part of that plan.
Alta is a beacon of hope and reminds us that God is on our side but if we let demonic forces win this battle then we are doomed.
    doomed I tell you, doomed

Thanks Slaag, that is a good point which will prove useful for the plaintiffs.

Snowboarders cannot go to Deer Valley, and there, they can choose what kind of equipment, approved nationally, that rides their PRIVATE land.

The snow sliding nazis at Alta will be in for a real surprise come next season. Just wait until this is a big national news story…LOL!!!

Maybe a change in the business ownership is coming.

That's my buddy. I'm a 29 and actually.. would be down to ski. First day on that slope. First four years were inside the ropes.

Bird doesn't even let people ski the alpine in their own terrain, plus the gates aren't open. Probably smart to keep tourists in controlled terrain but it's no favor to tourers.

Fair enough, but show me where Snowboarding IS a protected class. When you get that one sorted, let me know.

The attorneys were pretty clear in stating their case doesn't assume that. Not sure why people feel the need to slobber on that reality. It's a case built on an irrational exclusion of a tax paying and suitable user group on public land.

BroMonana's inclusion of "suitable user group", meaning their boards, the irrational exclusion of, and your perfect example of missing the point will be the bitter end for Alta folks who can't afford Deer Valley's membership fees.

    agreed.

have no issue with alta being a skiers mountain, probably cause i always look forward to the day it closes & spend plenty of days touring there both pre/post season. think most snowboarders may not like it as much as they think they would. and hate to say it but can also see why they may not want that element there. take my little dudes to brighton a lot and it ain't the skiers i'm worried about ... but what do i know.

What do you know? A lot. I used to ski with my daughter about 30 days per year. When she was 8 a 250 pound snowboarder skidding straight down the hill on his heels nailed her going about 30. I saw the whole thing and didn't think she'd come away without injury. But she did. It was so traumatic though that she no longer wanted to ski and gave the sport up. She couldn't enjoy herself any longer with the sound of boards scraping behind her. It's really sad because at 8 she was quite the ripper, and begged to get out of school on powder days.

More recently I was skiing in a slow area conversing with friends going about 5 mph. A boarder hit me from behind so hard that it knocked me out of my bindings and knocked him out.

Do these Neanderthals need to take the last bastion of skiing greatness and ruin it too? Being snowboarders, it seems that they'd realize that they move differently, have less visibility when making heel side turns, and generally don't fit into the flow of skiers. I've been skiing 40-some years, and have yet to be nailed by a skier.

You can access the public land just the same as any other person, you just can't ride the lifts that are privately owned with your snowboard.

What's next? Fight for the rights of the unfairly excluded sledders? Why can't I ride my radio flyer on my public land?

They forcibly remove people with snowboards from USFS land.

And then invite them to enjoy the mountain with SKIS on.

Let's face it. This "suit" is all about people that are too lazy to learn how to SKI.

Where I see they may win is the ability to potentially board the terrain I.e. come over from snowbird. However they will not have a ride back to the top. They won't be allowed to uphill hike, so the access from snowbird limits them to the ballroom and wildcat areas basically (to get the high t from the snowbird gates would mean a hike up to top of Collins. You can't make that traverse without it even on skis).
Alta lifts its owned privately and they get to say who can and who cannot ride their lifts.

Alta should want to change if they desire and not be forced to.

perhaps $nowboarding should designated as "Dangerous & Hazardous Sport" and be banned from any Public Lands to protect the General Public.
If so then Private resorts in Utah should have to disclose something like this....
"we recognize that Skiing has its risks but due to the unpredictability of Snowboarders and their Dangerous & Hazardous Sport status we take no responsibility if your are crashed into, cut off, sworn at, spit at, flipped the bird, traumatized, your day being ruined and the absolute fact they will ruin a Powder day by shredding all the gnar before 10;00 a.m. If this not acceptable then by Law we are required to recommend you go to a Public Lands facility to avoid these risks"

sounds absurd right? well so is the Lawsuit.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, and from your post, I know you think you and your family are the only people in the universe, and you think those few times you have been hurt is the entire world of snowboarders….yes, you are sheltered and irrational.

Funny, metal edges and bindings are the commonalities, you are just too much of a nazi to see that.

So true, Things are going to get real funny around here. You can even see the rage emerging from skiers who know their bitter end is near.

Private lifts? Ha, no, try again go to Deer Valley for Private lifts.

"Be allowed to change to allow snowboarders"? Even more absurd.
