I'm sick of people talking about lemonade and showing how cool they are cuz they went out and slogged the whole day to dodge a few rocks in the backcountry. The skiing sucks. That's reality. I'm still getting out and having fun but I ain't trying to tell people how awesome it is.

Stuff off 11 wasn't as good as last time, but there's a cool, pretty small rocky "couloir" over there.
We had a whale of a time, all told, but our ski's got their (b)asses kicked!

It occurs to me, that if you ski groomers, then Northstar is pretty much operating as Normal.
They even opened another run on Sunday (Castle Peak, off PromisedLandLift).

Gonna miss the Wildness of KW this weekend. Going to HV then NS.

Does anyone know if the 5 Lakes Trail near Alpine open for hiking?

I hiked it a few weeks ago and posted a pic here a few pages back. It's "open" - not technically, but lots of people are still doing it. I've been riding alpine a few days a week and there are cars parked at the trail head every day.

Ok so it can slide out there. I ended up head first in a mystery key hole chute today. And kept going. Knee deep factets on a steep slope gonna slide if you mess up. Vid coming.

Hit a rock and got a surprise. I ended up climbing out instead of going down. Waste of elevation at that point. Tough climb in deep facets.

Had fun on the KW reefs today. A little bird told me Sentinel might be fun. Lots of opportunity to live out your Powdork billy goat fantasies. Groomers are better than 3 weeks ago. We need a storm.

5 Lakes should always be open, given it's a wilderness area. There may be some access restrictions coming from the Alpine TH, as the trail crosses private land. Depends on the details of the easement. Some wildernesses have permits - 5 Lakes is self-issue at the TH. If there's none, I just go. Pyramid S ridge looks pretty bare if you're willing to schlep to SLT.
