Are you at UVM? If so, then you are young and anything I say with not pertain to you.
I had sharp left knee pain this AM laying in bed for a solid 5 minutes. What caused it...I'm guessing my arthritis. I had my right knee scoped a couple years ago for meniscus tear, which was my first and only knee procedure. My doc took many photos while prodding around which showed different levels of arthritis all around my knee. I was psyched to hear that
I think that the bottom line is like what everyone has said...smooth, smooth, smooth is the only way to avoid pain, but in the end I think skiers are screwed in general. I did jump a lot when I was younger and landed hard several times, but not nearly as hard as some of my kook friends. I can't imagine what there knees are like now. And this was out west where it was significantly softer and steeper landings typically. These park kids are gonna be screwed.
So, if you're over 40 or maybe even younger I'm guessing that most knee pain is arthritis related.
I'm not a doctor, but I did just drink a Heady Topper.
