Cool-thanks Vt-Freeheel. I am supposed to start some bathroom plumbing work on this Veterans Day, but I am wasting time poking around the internet.

Tip of my cap to all veterans.

Been playing with weatherspark.com They have a nice historical weather feature.

By next weekend if they have north peak open and flying fox it will be hard to pass up for mid november
I skied Loon Friday and Saturday, it was in surprisingly good shape for so early in the season. Big crowd on Friday, but big drop off on Saturday skier numbers. I wonder what Sunday numbers were like? Good to see Loon off to an early start!

the special chute is seriously just a sketchy place to be the hardest parts about it is the sidehill is nearly as steep as the direction of the chute and there is no real exit path from the chute.

at 2:44 was the first time I have skied it, its kinda of spectacular place to be

Can't wait for the clouds to clear over the mountains. Going to be one hell of a view.

    BTW:

Stowe is reporting 14" on the upper mountain as of an hour ago.
The Bush is reporting 12" in the last 2 days.

BEST PART? More on the way!

Looks like Jay got 8" and NOAA is calling for another 2-4 tonight at 2500'. Shit some glades could be skiable before the mountain opens

Killington did not suck today. Because I'm retar'd (southern accent y'all) military, I got to sample it for free today.

They've blown an incredible amount of snow and continue to do so. No snow there today but had a dusting last night. I guess the big storm is tracking north. Fine with me, I have to drive tomorrow. Too early to count on big snow totals still being on the ground by Thanksgiving.

The lady and I are planning a weekend trip up to the mad river area / waitsfield.
Leaves, warm fires and heady topper.

We heard pitcher inn in waitsfield is nice. We'd like to travel around 100 and see some waterfalls and views during the day the some nice restaurants at night.

Any suggestions for restaurants, inns b&b's (less so) or other highlights are greatly appreciated!

Leaves? Covered with snow today, good times will be had digging in the snow looking for them. I would suggest areas along the perimeter of the condo complexes. The yard maintainance guys have blown them to the edge and there's still some "fluffiness" to be found.

I would rather stay at the The Round Barn than the Pitcher Inn. The views are much better and you are not in the often foggy lowlands in the morning. Eats are pretty solid at the Pitcher Inn if they are open off season. Peasant on Bridge Street is my new favorite, check for off season hours. Hen of the Wood in Waterbury is well worth the drive.
Nice waterfall just south of Warren right on 100, don't even have to get out of the car to see it.

Good luck on the Headys as the visitor center is closing on Thursday and it will become a free-for-all to aquire them from the stores.[I'll get you some if you want me to]

Enjoy your Stick Season visit [you are talking soon?]

Haha, yeah. I meant sticks and snow season. We just got back from CA. and missed by a few weeks. Still, we can look at icy waterfalls and drink scotch by the fire

Round barn looks nice. I'll take a look at some of those restaurants. Visitors center is closing! Damn. Think we can scrounge up a few 4's (4-6) As we travel around? I know Alchemist lists about a dozen local places surrounding Waitsfield. Are we really going to get snaked? Nice of you to offer to grab some but we should be ok - unless you really think we'll show up to zero Heady anywhere around. Glad we got Pliny in CA...

This! Hen of the Wood is the best VT has to offer imo...just was there a few weeks ago for the wife's bday, absolutely can't go wrong but call now for a resv., the place is always booked solid.

mtnwriter - I will gladly grab you some heady in exchange for some Pliny (younger or elder), let me know...we can't get it here very easily.

    nice vid bushwhacker!

nice day today skinning the riv. some snow n blow overnight created some nice soft skiing on the upper half. lower half was frozen death coral. coulda used ski crampons on the way up, but that woulda taken the challenge out of it. t2 skied best, did 4 laps on that. upper punch skied well. right stuff was interesting with snowmaking goin on. actually busted out the gogs for that run
lower punch made me really appreciate my k2's with metal and my very nice marker f12's. that combo keeps even the most horrendous frozen choppy glazed coral, smooth and damp.

they've blown a shit ton of snow so should be in great shape for turkey day even with the temps mid-high 40's with sun for the valleys for multiple days late this week and through the weekend.

lee you shoulda joined me instead of weather watching

It's going to be quite tough to find HT this week esp. with the closing. I've heard traffic at the cannery today was insane.

I've had some pretty damn good food at the Mad Taco in Waitsfield. +1 for HOTW; worth the $$. Blue Stone in Waterbury is really excellent as well.

Second The Peasant... great food, owner, value. Tracks is the basement lounge in the Pitcher Inn and also very cool. Food is great, but prices are a bit more manageable than the upstairs dining room and we prefer the atmosphere.

If you wander over to Bristol, definitely eat at the Bobcat Cafe, but make a rez.

Moss Glen Falls is in the Granville Gulf

I am of the belief that if you want good advice about food, ask the fat guy. So here I am Have enjoyed Hen of the Wood only a few times but IT IS AMAZING! Some of the best meals I've had.

I almost exclusively trust us fat kids when talking food, Bottle! Sounds unanimous for HOTW. I'll report back on that and Peasant most likely.

Def. going to Moss Glen Falls. We're checking to see whether our friend near Stowe is willing to scour the land and engage in hand to hand combat for the remaining heady toppers. If not, I'm not above bartering Pliny (the elder - apparently the younger comes out once a yr. in February)...so we shipped a case from Berkeley.

Depends on the dates of your visit, local delivery is Tuesday and how long it lasts is hard to gauge. Never lasts till the weekend and in summer can go by Wed. morning. No biggie for me t oscore you a few 4s. As Vt-ski said Mad Taco is the tits for casual eats [really the only place I go for casual dining] and a great selection of everchanging drafts + $5 Heady cans.
3 Penny Taproom Montpelier provides 30+- taps and a great new menu and dining room. If you are out and about the Positive Pie in Plainfield is most excellent and has a new dining room with more than pizza [localvore style] and an extensive draft selection usually with a feature brewer/y holding down several taps.

    Have fun

Go to Hilfarmstead for sure. Some of their double IPA's rival Heady IMO and then they have a whole breadth of other beers that are amazing.
