36.7`bob overcast and windy. 1 11/16" new snow overnight.

Looks nice out teh window today.

Out on the backyard trails yesterday. 36` and a bit of sun made for a great ride. lots of time spent clearing deadfall, looks like no one has been out lately, need the 346XP to get two big ones.

Over the rocks and through the forest, stealthy gray camo.

My favorite stream crossing of anyplace I ride, even over The Falls.

No gloves, rog? Hands must get cold.

    ^^^^^^nice pics!

wearing gloves now. and the winter suit on the chilly days.

nuther 1.5 on George overnight with 1-3 expected. should be back to what we had in October before the meltdown if we get the 3. nickel and dime.

lovely day out there. 40 with sun here seacoast. no surf, but a few hours on the mtb should suffice

Would someone explain to me WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Driving back from loon and I see this on the NH forecast discussion. Is this true? Jay is suddenly calling for 4-8" overnight!?

VETERANS DAY BEGINS WITH WEAK RIDGING IN PLACE. SKIES WILL BECOME MOSTLY CLOUDY ONCE AGAIN ACROSS THE ENTIRE REGION AS THE NEXT JET STREAK AND VORTICITY MAXIMUM CROSS THE NORTHEAST. THIS WILL DRIVE A COLD FRONT THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT. AHEAD OF THE FRONT...WARM AIR ADVECTION AND COMPRESSIONAL WARMING WILL HELP TEMPERATURES INTO THE MID TO UPPER 40S ACROSS SOUTHERN NH AND SW MAINE. FARTHER NORTH...DAYTIME DIURNAL RANGES WILL ONLY BE 5-10 DEGREES. BETWEEN SNOW SHOWERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRONT AND UPSLOPE ENHANCEMENT...NORTHERN AREAS SHOULD SEE AROUND 1-3 FT OF SNOW ACCUMULATION TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING.

I believe the report for Jay.. NOAA usually gets it damn close with their predictions, and at higher elevations I've found that they actually tend to underestimate.

    They are also saying:

    3-5" for Stowe/da notch
    3-7" for Smuggs and beyond

and for both an additional 1-3" on Monday. I wouldn't be surprised if the snow total by Tuesday night hits a foot for some of the higher elevation areas.

Not sure where that 1-3' prediction is coming from though?!

Snowz in the yard melted, of course the rain this afternoon didn't help matters[it had already melted by noon]. Holding on above 2k' and sleeting the last 1/2 or so.
Some good inches up north fall they will, 3' sky will not drop.

Great morning watching the final races of the MotoGP series, Moto3 and the MotoGP premier classes down to the last race to decide the championships. I think someone said a few pages back that motorcycle racing is not a sport , I imagine they think golf is. Braking from 208mph[302 ft per second] to 85 mph into a decreasing radius corner takes an athlete. Some like it, some don't. I likey
    Season highlights

My friend M from CT came up last night and said "got my new winter riding gloves , lets go for a ride". Went to bloobs to get off the still snowy hill. Saw one[1] dog {with us} two[2] sets of two[2] hikers, one[1]rider{possibly a hippy}and one[1] father/son youth hunting day hunting party. No deer or deer tracks for that matter.

    From MWO on Sunday Morning:
    Observer Comments
    November 2013
    18:32 Sun Nov 10th

Yesterday - a few inches of snow, Tomorrow - feet?Windex, to most people, is a blue colored window cleaner. In meteorology, "WINDEX" stands for wintertime instability index and is used to assess the potential for snow squalls to form along frontal boundaries, mainly in New England. To assess this potential, forecasters use modeling software called BUFKIT, which is a profile visualization and analysis tool kit. In this modeling software, WINDEX is found by examining the parameters of relative humidity, differences in temperature, low level instability, and forcing at different layers of the atmosphere. When conditions are met, the WINDEX method identifies when and possibly where a snow squall may occur. In meteorology, a snow squall is defined as a sudden onset of strong winds with heavy snow and blowing snow that may cause whiteout conditions.

I mention all of this because using the WINDEX method, New Hampshire has a high indication for snow squall formation with the next cold frontal passage poised for Monday night. While most areas around the state (even the seacoast) will wake Tuesday morning to only a few inches on the ground, where these squalls set up, there is the potential for feet of snow by Tuesday morning. Right now, the highest potential for squall line formation is in the Lee of the White Mountains; but it can't be ruled out completely elsewhere in the state. Since it is a holiday weekend some folks may be tempted to wait until Monday night to drive home, the time when these squalls will be forming. If this is the case, be aware that roads, especially through the various notches (I-93, 302, 16, etc) of the White Mountains, may experience white out conditions at times making driving difficult. So, please be mindful of this and be safe out there in the coming days New Hampshire/New England. And with the Veterans Day holiday in mind, a special thanks to all those who have served our country in the armed services.

I thought the low had been pushed off the coast, but maybe this is something different.

will need to go look at a weatherman.

Wish lionel would post on FIS hid thoughts. I don't do twitter or Facebook.

Poked around and Jay looks like it could do very well. Not seeing what MWOBS is reporting, but maybe this is a case where the programs they run are able to predict something others do not.

Hmmm feet of snow on the Lee side of the Presidentials.
