Yeah if he doesn't get the job it would be a good place to start building an age-discrimination suit, no smart interviewer would ask that.

But yeah it was probably because of the sweater.

Right, just asking a question does not equal discrimination, let alone it would never stand as its he said she said.

You people sure get your panties in a wad over trivial shit.

I can't believe this thread has gone to 6 pages. This forum officially blows now (as if no one already knew that).

    And that matters why?

It doesnt take a law degree to realize that someone would need evidence. Maybe he recorded the conversation over the phone, but I highly doubt it.

Nevermind that would probably generate at least a couple news stories, which in a small state like NH is probably not what a prospective job seeker really wants his name attached to in a current job search. No HR department would touch him, is that really worth it because someone asked him their age? Not everything requires a law suit because you didnt get a sweetheart deal.

I'm sure the goats care that you're only doing their 1040EZs and not providing them legal counsel.

Yep. It's has nothing to do with being "PC", it has to do with federal and state laws. Not to mention it's stupid because you can usually tell an approximate age from the resume.

This is a small firm I don't think they have a official HR department and this guy is the owner. If that matters he postponed the interview due to a snow storm.

Well the guy thanked me for taking the interview seriously, by wearing a suit. I found a dark grey suit at Banana Republic that fit reasonably well and under $500. I guess the last person had a great resume and interviewed well over the phone but "looked like a slob". He was put in the reject pile.

I feel like I'll be offered the position within the next week or so.

If it matters how you look for a job interview- to a degree of course- I don't want to work there in the first place.

Last month my co-worker wore a suit to work and I gave him shit (50% of people wear jeans in our office) by asking if he had an interview. He said "someone once told me to dress for the job you want, not the one you have." I replied by saying "if that's the case, then I'll be wearing flip-flops to work tomorrow."

I'd only hire hot, dark haired, athletically shaped womenz, so I guess it does.
