    YMMV…

Sucks is a pretty strong word, one I would only reserve for Mid Atlantic or Midwest ski areas covered in ice and jammed pack with every backwoods country fuck in a 200 mile radius, not for a Rocky Mtn gem that gets 325”+ a season.

Yesterday may have been the best I've seen so far this season. I wish that meant more than it did. Snow was nice, but coverage still crap.

Let's hope this system brings more than a few inches - there's more cycling weather right behind it.

Spent this weekend between Pagosa and Wolf Creek with some buddies. Skied a half day afternoon on Saturday and the snow was filling in tracks on every lap by the time we left. Knew yesterday would be big and 17" new didn't disappoint. Hands down my best day of the season and exactly what my powder deprived soul needed!

Sure, the pow is great there. That is because no one skis monarch because it sucks. I am sure that if Vail only had 200 visitors a day that the powder would be pretty awesome there too.

monarch is lame. most of the lifts give you about 500-800 vertical of actual skiing.

Mirkwood sucks. I don't know what you gapers in here are talking about. If I remember correctly (which I do) Mirkwood is a 10 - 15 minute hike, followed by 300 vertical feet of steep, and a mile long run out.

I would rather ski the fucking contest bowl at breck. I'm sure that you all think I am being a troll right now, or lying to keep people away from my "stashes". I'm not. Monarch sucks. Ski there all you would like, gapers. I'm going to go ski a mountain with real terrain and vertical.

Called Monarch a "rad little mountain" and I stand by that assertion. Yeah the lifts are about 800 vert each, and slow, but that's what makes it a nice change of pace from the front range resorts. Yesterday was the most relaxing day at a resort I've had since I was a kid, the laid back vibe is a welcome change. If you're going to battle traffic on 70 to get out to Summit or Vail/BC from Denver it's ALMOST a tossup drive wise to head to Monarch instead. We all had comp tickets from seeing The Dream Factory anyways so would I pay $0 to ski there again on a day where they got more snow than any of the Vail resorts. Abso-fucking-lutely. Would I pay $30 with a shell 2 for 1 voucher. Yep. And would I hike 10 minutes to ski 300-500 vert of fun terrain. Yep anytime. Mirkwood isn't the raddest place on earth, not even close, but it's fun. Not everything is about being as hardcore as humanly possible. Yesterday was about having a super fun, laid back day with friends and skiing better snow than we have had recently... Nuff said.

Back on topic ... Wolf Creek Pass should be at about 80% of average snowpack by this time tomorrow. At least somewhere is...

Taking rec's on cheapo motels down there as well. Always been a guest when I stayed previously.
When you say SF do you mean Santa Fe? There is a decent youth hostel on Cerrillos Rd. How long are you here for? Or do you mean South Fork?

At Loveland now, started snowing about an hour ago. I'd say there's probably close to 1/2" of accumulation already, could be nice tmrw if this keeps up for any appreciable amount of time.

Heavy, hero snow this morning but it is covering things up nice. Cold front has come in and the snow is getting lighter by the minute. Lets hope it keeps dumping.

Love these storms, especially when we need some wet heavy to cover stuff up, then it gets light and the top few inches are blower.. still get the fun rooster tail and everything is soft.

New 6-10 and 8-14 outlooks make me think spring might be saved. Warm and wet, hopefully the higher peaks get plastered with feet and feet of slop.

Purg was awesome today. Launched off everything into the spongey soft stuff. Got some sweet first tracks off lift 5 since 8 was closed and no one was headed over there. Had to leave early since the GF busted her head up a bit.

Decided finally to buck up and use my free guided day at silverton for this friday. Should be epic if the avy danger isn't terrible.
