Gully #1 was looking like a solid two pitches of grade 1+ ice climbing two days ago when I went up to check on the caches. If the temps drop and we keep getting moisture, things might start looking up pretty soon."

hopefully whatever's there got really wet, we get more, and it all freezes into one glacial mass to protect us from what lurks below.

I'll be in Tahoe that weekend. Was thinking this Sunday but well see, not looking likely. According to the nws server they got 2" of liquid equivalent, mostly snow but some freezing fog and freezing drizzle, in the last two days with more coming. Up to an inch of qpf Friday alone, and more Friday night into Sat. Starting to think there will be lots of unstable pockets in bony terrain.

Hoping that they get a chance to take some pictures tomorrow during the brief high and that provides some info.

Kirkwood is a bit of a drive, but their elevation usually helps them when Tahoe proper is getting rained on. Mammoth has been getting pounded with snow, but that's a good couple hours away.

Leaving to visit in-laws in Northern MA/Southern NH tomorrow. I hate to say it, but I'm considering biking over skiing.

Anybody ridden Willowdale lately? Has the recent turn in the weather killed biking season yet?

Some pics to go through but here are few to get the ball rolling

I wanted to catch yesterday's "pow-day" at Jay Peak. Unfortunately I had a phone interview, and roaming long-distance charges in the USA are rougher than prison rape.

On the bright side, the interview was with the CAC in Revelstoke.

GP- it was fun, that mountain is a special spot.

But today in north vt is going off like nothing I expected this morning. Nuking sideways again. People are skiing Madonna 1 top to bottom. Snow is light and nice up top and almost as deep as Maine was getting yesterday. Surprise day for sure. This is how winter should be. Pics are looking stellar.

Nice shot rudeness looking good up that way too!

EC is indeed involved in full on winter right now

Massif got 91cm of snow in the last 48....yet they still have 14 out of 52 trails open. Skiing under rope would be the order of the day for if it wasn't the last week prior to Christmas with a bunch of stuff to get done, that where I would be going.

Have fun out there folks...Ottawa is supposed to get some extra snow by the end of the week...wish we could get some extra mountains with real vertical. Ahhh, the life of a family man with kids in a local ski program.

edit: nice pic of VSC rudeness. I haven't skied there since I got stitches for the cut on my chin, Happened in the 1st run of a slalom race in maybe 1990.

Let's let generalized. Not great, but not green where I am.

No way I can get out on Friday...school thing with my youngest; I have priorities.

I should really be ditching work tomorrow and Friday and making a trip up to ME. Or to Le Massif for that matter!

But other key guys on my team are already off, so someone needs to man the ship. Wait... i'm the senior guy here, how did this happen?

And it's only white on the slopes because of the smidgen of man-made that has managed to hang around.
