I would be down if it actually looks like there is something promising. I'm not sure if I actually remember how to ski though, so hopefully the snow is soft.

    Did someone call for blower?
On Saturday afternoon into Sunday...a slow moving vertically stacked system will be located over eastern New England...and a favorable northwest follow will develop. This will help drag a sharp modified Arctic boundary across our County Warning Area...resulting in much colder air on Sunday...with prognosticated 850 mb temperatures between -14c and -16c. The favorable deep cyclonic flow and good 1000 to 700mb relative humidity associated with a closed 500 mb/7h circulation will result in a prolonged upslope snow event from late Sat through early Monday. Also...expect a high fluff factor given developing thermal profiles of 20 or 30 to 1. Some difficult travel is anticipated with snow...blowing snow...and falling temperatures over the weekend...especially Sunday. A moderate snowfall event looks likely for the mountains of northern New York and central/northern Vermont...with some accumulations possible for the cpv/slv by Sunday. However...if system is quicker to lift out and favorable northwest follow is limited...much less snow will occur with only light amounts in the mountains still some uncertainty with upcoming system.
Of course, just in time for me to leave the state for the holidays. Awesome.

Stoked to hear about the folks gitting some / about to git some up in ME. would be heading that way tonight if it weren't for a meeting I need to make tomorrow. fml

for a bit more beta on george, just got an email from one of our snow rangers wanting to hook up for a surf tomorrow.

    his words:

"For what it's worth, skiing the Sherb today was better than hiking down from work, but not by much. Gully #1 was looking like a solid two pitches of grade 1+ ice climbing two days ago when I went up to check on the caches. If the temps drop and we keep getting moisture, things might start looking up pretty soon."

hopefully whatever's there got really wet, we get more, and it all freezes into one glacial mass to protect us from what lurks below.

sunday/monday after x-mas is on my radar, rob. in case yer around.

Was up at Saddleback for opening day Saturday. Looking a bit different up there now. On Saturday, the mountain was white, but barely. The six claimed trails was really only two. Not much snow on trails without snowmaking. This storm should be setting it up well, but I'd wager you'd want rock skis on anything but the few groomers they had been blowing on previously.

Good to see everyone gettin after this snow. Wish it was here in VT but a relatively short drive yielded bottomless pow and 30 min free refills all day. TWD actually was knocked over by the wind on the skin track at one point. It was massively puking sideways. I would say 2 feet fell by the time we left with much deeper drifts. Consolidated surfy pow. Perfect for opening terrain up.

We were way impressed with Saddleback's terrain, the vibe, and the people. Definitely going back when we can actually see it.
Some pics to go through but here are few to get the ball rolling

    TWD first Lap

Last lap we decided it was deep enough to explore some of the endless tree terrain that they have.

If you can, get to Maine! It was too good. We thought about crashing at the warming hut up top but all had to get back to work. Wish we could have stayed. It was dumping harder than ever when we left. Back in wet VT now is a bummer.

Nice session at the climbing gym tonight with VTF. it isn't skiing pow but it did have some gnar factor - driving in vt sucks right now! Glad to hear everyone had a good time skiing the east east coast. Can't wait to see more pics tomorrow.

Nice work, guys. Had planned/hoped to hit up SR today, but work got the better of me. Looks like SB/SL was the area to be in yesterday!

Moar snow coming maybe? Fingers crossed. (Yeah yeah, fight club etc...)

31.5` light wind and 5/8" damp new snow sticking like paste to the saturated base layer that is still 4" or so. Couple of flakes falling out o the sky.
Winds were howling around 4am and woke me up.
Thankfully not te washout some hoped for and we will have a white start to the holiday season. Climbing gym was fun last night, nice way to spend a rainy evening.

Crank- if you can get up there I would suggest it for sure. VT is starting to turn to winter as well it looks like today.

Went to bed with rain and brown in the valley, woke up to white and 3" down and snowing pretty hard. Want to meet for first chair?
