Wente has a pretty good range. Really nice tee area. You hit down wind and it's on top of the hill but it's a nice range and the balls are free.

I really want another shot at Stonetree (went once, played poorly) but it's just not quite worth the $ IMO.
i bought a net and a used practice pad from the course i usually play at. if i'm going somewhere else that doesn't have a driving range i hit a bunch of balls before i go.

It's not about about getting loose*, it's about what mistakes I'm tending toward that particular day. There's a range and practice area five minutes' walk from my apartment, so I'll swing through there if there's no range where I'm going.

i know you can't track it, but if all else fails, it works for me. i can still get a sense of whether i'm making good contact with the net. it may take a whole or two for me to straighten out whatever might be my problem. then again, i may not straighten it out for the whole 18.

i can't wait to get to the range today after a nap. i'm hoping my clubs will be servicable until i find something better. my driver is super flexy, so i may just play with irons for a while if they're not so flexy.

Pre golf warm up - def. A way to see what direction your ball has decided to go today prior to teeing up so you can adjust your aim to compensate.

maybe that's my problem. if my ball isn't tracking the way it should, i don't adjust my aim, i try to correct my swing. sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

Golf. Such a mental game. You can make it easy...or you can make it hard. Scoring has very little to do with swinging.

right, so for me at this point, developing a relatively consistent swing and understanding why it's not working -- technically at least -- is more important to me than scoring. i think i kept score one time in ecuador and stayed focused on trying to make each shot and figure out why i didn't if it didn't turn out even close to what i was attempting. i wanted to come home improved (i have) and also more capable of understanding my own faults so that i can self-correct to some degree. it's been a great summer of golf so far. can't wait to see how redtail looks to me now after practicing on a more difficult course.

I'm a huge fan of titleist vokey wedges. I play the 52*, and it's my favorite club. I would love to retool all my wedges, but I just can't right now. I had a 53* black nickel like my 58, but I just always felt like I had the wrong club in my hand. I play the 58 because I just never feel like I can get a 60* to go far enough in certain lies. Kind of a jacked up setup, especially when I had the 53, 56, 58, but I'm now really comfortable with it. I pretty much only pull out the 58* when I have to hit a flop or a bunker shot with little green to work with.

I do still like my mizunos, but Vokeys give me the same warm and fuzzy feeling as a scotty cameron.

jesus, what happened to furyk on 18? missed it but double bogey leading by one to lose by one sounds like a bigass choke. it must be the 5 hour energy on a 6 hour course.

Yeah I haven't heard nothing but positive things about them. You have stock shaft in them?

Yeah, I play them with the standard "wedge shaft" as I think they're called. I think it's relatively stiff, possibly just because it's short, but I think it is stiffer than a regular shaft, but again, I base all that info on absolutely nothing other than what I thought I've felt. In any case, I've never had a want or a need for a different shaft in a wedge. You should never really be taking a really full, hard swing with a wedge anyhow, if you can help it.

I use Cleveland CG10 wedges, which are fine. I had been using the CG16s but they were a little soft-feeling for my taste and wear really, really quickly.

Keep an eye on dealadaygolf.com, they've been running some wedge set specials- Cleveland, Nike, and Adams come up often. The Clevelands were any three for $170, which is a great deal. 3balls also has a pretty good used selection if you're on a budget.

I like the non-conforming Vokeys and play 52 (bent to 50), 54, 58. Different bounces for different conditions. I find 54/58 easier to use than 56/60 and my PW is 46*. YMMV...

I use Cleveland CG 14's and love them. They don't seem particularly soft to me but maybe recent versions have changed..

    x2 on the cg14

I have had the new SM4 vokeys and I still cant get the cg14s outof the bag. Great wedges, I am a digger so the rounded leading edge suits me perfectly.

Ive literally found no shot that I NEED or even want to use my 58* over my 54*.

Im taking it out and adding a 5 wood. Adams fast 12 FW woods FTW. Point and shoot.

I end up short-sided needing to fly a bunker once a month or so and use the 60. It would be my first club to change out though...Using the TM 3H and 4H to fill the 5W slot for now...

Not formally, but do have four wedges, and sorta have three swings: full, half, and 'feel'...
