I really think there's risk/reward there all day, while bandon trails just tries to beat you up all day, and doesn't necessarily reward good shots. I literally have a problem with that. I can't stand courses where you hit it in the best spots and you're still f'd.

You may have loved 14, but if they are changing 14 and 16, don't you think there's a real problem? 14 is silly, and 16 feels like one of those holes where they didn't really know what to do with the land, or didn't have enough room to make a good hole, or even just wanted to build up to 17, which is a great hole. They should dig a trench in the middle of 18, too.

I think it just a case of Bandon Trails fitting my eye more than Bandon Dunes. As I said, Bandon Dunes seemed more straight forward to me, while Trails really made me think about each shot and where I wanted to play the shot. I don't disagree with your statement that Trails just tries to beat you up, maybe I am a bit of a golf masochist but I really enjoy the challenge of having to place your ball in the right spot or face an incredibly difficult shot on the next one. If I had 10 rounds at Bandon I would play Pacific Dunes 4 times, Old MacDonald 2, Bandon Trails 2, Bandon Dunes 1, and The Preserve 1. I loved 14 because for such a short hole, you have to hit two great shots in a row to get on the green, and then you had to execute on the green to make 3 or 4. And furthermore, my usual game is a nassau, and 14 is great match play hole because of the variation in scores that are possible on what on paper looks fairly easy. The reason they are changing it is because most people are trying to post a good score every time they play and any hole that can cause a blowup is a "bad" hole if that is your mentality. The nature of links golf, especially in bad weather, is that you may get some bad luck on a well struck shot or good luck on a poorly struck shot, but that is the rub of the green and you have to take what you get and then play the next shot as best you can.

Nah. I went looking for images of her online and stumbled onto her FB page. I never spent much time with her. She was spoken for by one of the larger caddies at Bandon Dunes, both really nice people. Also, I was in a long distance relationship with the woman who is now my wife, and she asked me a few times back then if there were any hot women caddies and I just said no at first, but she came to visit and I introduced her to Sasha. "She said, I thought you said there weren't any hot caddies?" It was a non issue, but she knows I think Sasha was hot, and for about 2 years after, she would always use her name as a euphemism for hot chicks, mostly because she thought it was fun to say "Sasha".

If you're referring to the golf course I stole each of those pics from the Bandon website. I kick myself everyday for not bringing my camera out to the course, but when I was caddying I thought it was unprofessional, and the rest of the time I was too baked to remember to do anything.

Adam's Mtn CC is sick. Membership is looking better (28) and at a 150,000USD, it is worth it IMO. They call it Adam's Rib too, I was waiting to eat ribs, but had fish tacos....go figure.

Got out to City Park Wednesday. The front was atrocious; shot a 47 with three doubles including a ball in the water on #6, a quad on #9, and ended with 20 putts.

I turned into a different human being on the back. Started bogey-bogey then played the last seven holes at +1 to card a three over 40 on the back (three par fives) with 14 putts. Birdied 12 from the fringe from about 15 feet. The main difference was I stopped being a pussy and started pulling 3-wood on most tees starting on #10. Still can't believe how well I was hitting it.

Ended with 11/14 fairways but only 4/18 GIR and 34 putts. Need to work on that obviously but I'm feeling really good with where I'm at right now save the fact my putting is still absolute shit.

Played Stonetree again yesterday. I really need to stop playing courses where I can't hit range balls first. The lack of warming up kills my scores.

Bogie, bogie, bogie, double bogie, bogie... and then birdie, par, birdie, birdie = 38 / +3 on the front.

40 / +3 on the back. Feels like I played a hell of a lot better than a 78.

Funny, I just got off the phone with Wente- was about to book a time but remembered my Stonetree experience and wanted to be sure they had a range.

I really want another shot at Stonetree (went once, played poorly) but it's just not quite worth the $ IMO.

Meh. Not as good as Buffalo Run or Riverdale but not as terrible as CO National. Pretty damn average but not bad considering the lack of wetness this season.

I really don't want to max out my budget but yesterday as I was browsing courses noticed it's only $2200 for unlimited golf and practice privileges at Common Ground. I was also eyeing a Westminster golf annual pass which includes unlimited green fees all week plus 35 buckets for $2400 at Heritage at Westmoor AND Legacy Ridge.

Any Front Rangers know of any good memberships around town for ~$2000? I'd have more but need to set aside some cash for photog shit, skis, and a LL pass.

Coal Creek wasn't bad; I rather enjoyed what we got in. The CO National deal doesn't sound bad at all. I could easily hold off 'til Feb or Mar to pull the trigger but we plan on getting pregnant in the next couple months (the doc is pretty confident) and I want to golf (and ski) 'til I drop if we're having one in less than a year. Isn't Coal Creek where I can do the $119 special and get free golf Dec-Feb or is that IP?

I've also been contemplating just throwing a G in a seperate bank account and golfing 'til it's done then just switch over to skiing for the winter. I could do that and save a butt-ton of money and get a membership somewhere if she ain't knocked up by end of (ski) season.

IIRC, Palo Alto, or maybe it was Los Altos Hills CC, I think Palo Alto, has the same thing. It was $240k to join when I played it as a kid, and you have to warm up on one of their 4 mats and hit into a net.

There are too many great, DIFFERENT courses in Colorado to even think about it unless you have money to burn (student loan money is not flammable). Even buying skis and season passes is not healthy with loan money. Stop letting that money burn a hole in your pocket and save, budget and plan for your upcoming kid.....you will need it.

It would have been grossly fucking stupid of us to spend the last year at the doctor and the tens of thousands of dollars it took us to make our shit right so we could even have a kid if we didn't already have our priorities straight.

I totally deserve whatever I feel like buying after these last 18 months but that's just my opinion. Plus, I'm not a gear whore so whatever I get should last a few years (except a membership of course). The student loans are going to the right place, it just frees up capital in other areas.

I already have the thought of foregoing a membership in lieu of what you suggested; just playing some great golf less instead of mediocre golf non-stop.
