I can totally agree with you about the slow play, but we grew up going to the same church and I've known him since I was a kid, so me and Jesus forgive him.

-and Tye they do have an official clock that they will put you on for slow play. Continued slow play results in a penalty

The group as a whole will get warned if they are out of position. If they fail to get back into position, they will be individually timed. I think after 2 bad times, then a player can get penalized. It never happens though. The LPGA has penalized several players for slow play.

Chix should play in the NFL too, eh? They're certainly good enough to be kickers...

How fun is that? 1/2 the FIELD within easy striking distance after day 1?

yer smarter than that Tipp. No relation between where they are compared to par, and being in 'striking distance'. Being five back right now is a huge hill to climb. In some ways having a lot of folks within a couple/three of the lead makes it MORE exciting! Plus it's only day one! Gonna be a great tournament.

This is super simple. Augusta is holding on to a simple form of old school bigotry. People should not tolerate it.

No, the point is moot. See 42 U.S.C. section 1983. Private Clubs are exempt. Next?

And trust me, unless you've spent time in the corporate counsel department for a company that is as large as one of America's biggest brokerage firms you do not know as much as me about management, governance and corporate responsibility. I'm not trying to be a dick waving idiot here, I'm just simply pointing out that you are wrong on the law when it comes to discrimination. No personal digs here pal, (unlike you) I'm just telling you that you're wrong, and the law is on Augusta's side. Touchy-feeley arguments hold no weight here.

Now, can we please stop thrunting up this thread?

Westwood, Jimenez or Bubba for the win; pick one fellas. I'd love to see Rory do well, as he seemed to get through some nerves today, but this is one tough course.

personally i'd never pick based on Thursday's scoring. Still w/Keegan and Rory. And i will quite possibly be very wrong. Again.

Holding the scrap of paper with Rory's name on it before last year's Sunday round I felt on top of the world (with $1000 on the line). By the end of the day, besides being very drunk my only emotion was that of yet another personal loss.

This is one tough tournament to pick winners and as you mentioned, Thursday's leaders are no clear indicator of Sunday evening victories.

Westwood is due in my mind but an Oosthausen (sp?) or similar player could come to stun all the other favorites.

Good Lord, I wanted Boom Boom to hole out on that approach today, but again it looks like he keeps missing putts. The dream lives on...

    Appropriate Masters question:

Out of the 3 honorary first tee shots, who was your all time favorite? Arnie, Jack, or Gary?

I personally love Arnie's attitude and workman's style, and Gary's class, but Jack's gotta take it by a nose.

agree. Love Jack kind of glancing at the ball flight, then, like us mortals do, reaching down to grab the tee...

    HA! Us mortals indeed.

(I must have missed Jack's years of cursing wildly at the ball flight like the mortals I play with)

It is a sweet, matter-of-fact look though that he pulled off today.

They're expecting another inch to inch and a half of rain tonight.

Pin-seeking conditions tomorrow. Gonna be fun to watch. Gotta go to Total and grab a pick-six of IPAs.

LPGA has stricter rules and average round time is considerably less than PGA.

jesus just watched stenson's 8 on 18 when he was -5 after 17. brutal.

Within a matter of minutes, his 36th birthday party went from what could have been a cool celebration of his holding the lead after the first round of the Masters to his simply eating cake.

It isn't every day a player posts an 8 on the 18th hole at Augusta National. It is the biggest number on the finishing hole anyone has ever written on his scorecard there. Before Thursday, only six men had done it.

sure hasn't been much moving so far, couple/three strokes either way max...well, other than Lyle going from 14 to 20 over.

Huh, I pretty much wrote Sergio off yesterday after he blew his tee shot on the last par 3 into the bunker, then left it in the bunker!

Good for him though. Looks like Rory's back on track and go Boom Boom!
