any red number looks like a decent score today.
Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

Relax and enjoy the best tournament in the best club that you'll see all year. Life isn't that bad.
Typical BS flying cover for discrimination. It took years for jews, backs, etc. to be admitted to any number of clubs - and even neighborhoods - throughout the US. And you can bet almost the same words were spoken.

The time has come for that crap to stop. Public companies have shareholder obligations (in theory anyway). Many have explicit non-discrimination policies. They should live those policies. They should not spend money to discriminate against many of their employees and shareholders. Many companies benefit from government contracts. Those seem to come with non-discrimination terms too. Those should extend to advertising business deals. They should just walk away...

There are people playing at Augusta who can only play there and many other courses because someone had the fortitude to stand up and say "this will not stand" when blacks, jews, asians, etc. were barred from membership. It is time to do this with respect to gender. Yes - Augusta has the right (to some degree) to govern itself and set its membership rules as it will. The decent part of the population has the right to tell them to go to hell for it. To refuse to sponsor or advertise. To refuse to watch. And if Augusta is rich enough and haughty and bigoted enough to want to continue on their path let them do so with everyone knowing what they are.

You don't understand the First Amendment. It protects the right for people to be bigots, and to associate freely with other like minded people. To disallow would be arbitrary line drawing and that is expressly what the framers didn't want. Private clubs are excluded from federal law for discrimination against protected classes. If you have a gripe, take it up with congress and have them start the arduous process of making a constitutional amendment.

Companies who sponsor and advertise have done the math and concluded that they don't care that some people will get their panties in a knot over them sponsoring a club that doesn't allow women to be members. Do you really think they haven't thought that through? Since some receive government contracts is also irrelevant since none of the sponsors make the majority of their money from government contracts thus they aren't exposed to a threat of a discrimination suit. That would be one hell of a tenuous case.

Lastly since you likely won't understand why I'm right I'll make a perfect analogy that I've experienced that shows you that 'discrimination' goes all ways with private clubs: My family wasn't able to join my country club for years because it was Jews only. No one threw a fit and eventually when economic conditions changed in the early 90s that they couldn't survive on a Jewish only membership they opened it up to people of all faiths. Now my family and I are the oldest non-Jewish members, big deal.

Let's stop thrunting up this thread since the point is moot ok?

Someone please see my Westwood pick on pg 1, it's looking good.

These are some DAMN low scores already!

-and I'm pulling for Ben Crane (Portland's own)
Want to know why i always root against Ben Crane - He's the slowest player on Tour. Guys who are as deliberate as him out to be kicked off the tour if they can't change their games.

didn't the tour start actually giving warnings for slow play in the last couple of years?

playing with Kevin Na, another slow guy. CBS guys will be gouging their eyes out if either one gets into contention. Weather is about to move in, guys will have to start even earlier to finish up their 1st round tomorrow. Greens get even slower. Not supposed to very hot tomorrow for them to dry out quickly

The point is far from moot. It is being discussed in this thread because you started down the road without any provocation other than your own profound ignorance and bias. And FWIW I am reasonably sure I know more about management and governance and corporate responsibility than you do. And I don't get my understanding of the Constitution and history by blindly absorbing and parroting the conservative bigots' daily fax.

This is super simple. Augusta is holding on to a simple form of old school bigotry. People should not tolerate it.

Yet another idiot self proclaimed "conservative" whining about someone not just sitting back and shutting up about total BS. You did not suggest your misogynistic pal shut up when he started down this path earlier in this thread. Pathetic insecure hypocrites...

Why don't you start a thread in PolyAss then. This thread is about golf.

You can thank bmillsskier. I had thought about it. Not being a JONG, I did a search so as not to start random new threads. And I found political commentary here rather than in PA. I simply engaged the conversation. If you did not like it - you and others should have shut that fool down. He clearly just assumed everyone either shared or would tolerate his discriminatory view. I do not. So like I said, go talk to him for firing it up here and not PA....
