Vail was empty this morning. I have no idea where they measured 12" at, most places were 4-6" with some windblown spots that were deeper. One turn would be a windblown spot and would be 8-10 and the next would be completely void of any snow. Really wind effected snow, dense but surfy and fun.

    Vail via Facebook

"Vail Skiers and Riders: In order to accurately reflect the current snow conditions at 10am, Vail is updating the 5am snow report reading to 2 inches after the latest feedback from patrol and mountain ops. The winds have created varied snow conditions over the large expanse of Vail, there are runs with 12+ inches, there are runs with 0-1 inch. If you’re looking for deeper powder, stick to Eastern facing runs and bowls – stay away from exposed ridges where wind blows new snow away. Thanks, and if you see a patroller out there today, thank them for doing the control work to get everything open!"

seriously, why don't they just get a powder cam or snowstake cam similar to copper?

that is accurate on their part. The wind really fucked things up....would have been more like 6 and not 12. The wind in the backk appeared to have really been swirling from all directions as all aspects showed the same consistency.

Breck skied like a legit 8" lower down in the SuperConnect and E Chair trees today, with wind-loaded pockets of knee deep. Imperial didn't open today, but the T-bar was smooth, creamy high-speed goodness. And the mountain was empty.

A friend of mine that lives on a ridge in Golden Gate Canyon measured his high gust yesterday at 119mph.

Echo the above comments from Steamboat yesterday. Coverage is phenomenal, but snow was heavy/surfy/PacNW style. Fun even though it wasn't blower.

Vail was nuts this morning. 5" was about right. Glad they updated their report to reflect lower totals. Found some fun pockets, but the wind basically destroyed the mountain.

Sunday's storm is not looking all that good...going too far north it appears.

Nuts crowded or nuts windblown? Was thinking of driving up from Boulder tomorrow to search for leftovers in the woods. Not worth it?

Eldora, on the other hand, was fuckin $$$$. EMPTY. I mean like ski full speed into the lift with a bored lifty empty. 12 inches and more in spots. Salto glades skied about as good as they get. Blower with numerous face shots. Sorry for the brag, but eldora FTW today.

Saw you this morning at the VB and almost called you out for your forecast being on the short side. That would have been embarrassing huh?

Bummer about the report, but fuck... snow was holding well in the trees at Vail. Definitely legit thigh-deep in Pumphouse and other select areas. Nice to enjoy a mountain with maybe 100 other people. Lines today? 2-4 seconds at best.

Drove through alternate routes and then up a closed i70 to get to Vail. Certainly fun turns in the stashes, but yeah the report was a bit whack. Highlight for people going tomorrow will be lover's leap, 37 never opened and it will be loaded I think. Other than the fact they dropped about 35 bombs...

Yeah, I hit pumphouse a few times this afternoon and found tons of fresh and some fun pillows. The tree stashes were holding snow well. My body is beat after 2 days of bell to bell pow skiing and some big hucks.
