Well that ^^ looks beyond sketchy.
Careful...Next wave rolls in tonight with 1.5 to 2.5 feet of new snow on a west/nw wind (20-30mpg). Temps in the 10 to 20 range. Monday should be dessert. 6-12.

I didn't read anything on the UAC site this morning and didn't get a text about any artillery shooting going on...wtf?
The lights we're flashing due to a media event. You probably happened by right after the cameras and reporters left and a few minutes passed before we were able to get to the sign. Sorry about the confusion, and thanks for paying attention.
Sounds like you are signed up on the UDOT Twitter/Text alert, but for those that are not, sign up: @UDOTavy to get information on when we are planning to do control work above the Highways and when/what backcountry areas will be closed.

One of the better days of the year for sure out there today. The 4" of new snow came in light and turning conditions are fast and fun on low angle slopes. Good to see some mags out there.

The skiing this morning was pretty fantastic I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was; $$

    always good to share turns
southfacing was a lot more variable but Alexiz says it was better than most of his skiing last year
    over the pond.
Lot of collapsing on the skin up to fantasy most q1 to ground facets lot of previous windswept lurker rocks thin spots from faceshot pockets to still not yet covered fall vegitation.
plenty of rime on ridgetop trees Will see if I can get Plum bro to join and post his pics
class pit results from off summer road pretty variable and interesting, cut short though cause somebody saw a slide up griz w/ no exit tracks
Not sure where and thought the large group that corniced off the slide off patsey into 1k turns called alta dispatch to report.
Anthow if you are out and set off large slides intentionally or not if you report them such confusion can possibly avoided
    oh and PAJ
when the premiere splitboarder shreds by you on his dp exit to head over to OR to pimp his fine splitbord wares

Jesus Dibs... You up early enough posting on TGR? Hoping this storm matches what the NOAA is showing. Around tonight? May stop by if you have some free time.

UDOT will close the road in Lt. Cottonwood Canyon tomorrow morning January 22, 2012, at Snowbird Entry I at 6:30 a.m.
Inter-lodge Travel Restrictions (implemented by the Alta Town Marshal, and Snowbird Snow Safety) will go into effect at 7:00 a.m.
Backcountry access to areas on the NORTH SIDE of Lt. Cottonwood Canyon between Gate C and Grizzly Gulch, will be CLOSED beginning at 10:00 p.m. tonight.
It is anticipated that Backcountry Travel restrictions will be lifted, and the canyon road will reopen by 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.

True story. Interlodge in effect now. Total shitshow on the road so we headed to GMD to wait it out. After digging ourselves and several other people out we got turned around on the bipass rd. Alta sheriff said white pine buried the highway 15 feet deep. Additional slides have hit the bipass rd shortly after we made it back up. Udot and snow safety are reportedly probing one. Dfinn couldnt make it back up to Alta. No estimated reopening time on the 210.

Alta had a snowcat blading out the GMD lot and pulling cars out. Total mayhem. I could barely get around in a lifted Tundra with good all terrains, had to gun it at like 4000RPM to make any progress. Put a lot of wear and tear on the truck tonight.

Did my last lap on little cloud at 3:40... got back down and killed a talley from gritz and then headed to my jeep down in the creekside lot about 4:15. Had to help 3 different suvs get movin and then hopped in my jeep and took me an hour 45 to get down LLC. Fuckin cars were everywhere - crazy shitcakes

I've never had so much fun watching a parking lot before. I think I saw your Tundra in the mayhem. Funny shit watching people try to dig out their cars with skis. Watched the snowcat help push a guy out of his spot, then his tires gripped and he gunned it full speed into the snowbank bordering the creek.

beaterdit i think you just called and asked about breakfast?

I never do recognize people I have only met in ski gear. not a bad night to be stuck here!

patrollers that just came in just finished up with a probe line and dog search at the bird. Comma ran all the way to the parking structure. Can't believe they didn't shut down the road and go to interlodge til shit really started hitting the fan.
