^^^^ Thanks for all your help Mike and Cody. I do have one question that has been addressed by a few, but not by either of you. Do you feel that the Rocker2 is stiff enough for what your averaged skier at Squaw/Whistler is going to deal with on a pow day ?

I assume your situations put you in the position to ski untracked snow fairly often, but tracked out pow and other types of variable is what a lot of my time is spent on. I want a pow ski that can charge over the crud (or whatever you want to call snow that is a mix of soft and hard) as it is becoming bumps. But I also want my pow ski to be close to ideal for pow.

I assume you guys are inclined to remain positive when describing Salomon stuff. But if you (or others) would mind commenting specifically on the degree of dampness/stability the R2 has in variable snow that would be awesome. Thanks so much

I skied the Rocker 2 in a 184cm at Crystal last December, along the "pointy tipped" BBR. There was 8-12" of new snow over a pretty hard base. After a couple runs on the BBR, which was oddly fun, I was stoked to spend the rest of the day on the Rocker 2. For the tighter trees and chutes the Rocker 2 was awesome, light, poppy, and super manueverable. However much like an S7, JJ, Bentchetler, etc... I felt like you couldn't really open them up with big radius, high speed turns. I am 5'9" and 185 and the ski definitely had a speed limit in some of the more variable wind affected snow. Sure the bigger size would be a little better, but it all comes down to skiing style. Somebody making short quick turns and hopping down the fall line through trees, chutes, etc.. will probably love the ski in all conditions other than ice. Skiers, especially heavier skiers, that are making big high speed turns down open terrain will probably want to look elsewhere.

Has anybody skied the R2 mounted at the back refrence line or even further back? Wondering just how far back you can mount these whithout loosing the feeling of a secure tail.

Maybe if you ask the same question a third time, worded slightly differently, someone will tell you what you apparently want to hear. I think Cody addressed your question above.

Better yet, just mount them really far back, and wheelie away!

Although crank54 pretty much answered it, I'll say again, mount forward of the back line. I've skied the back line and further back, it sucks. Unless back seat wheeling happens to be your steeze.

    Another annoying length question

Another one of these annoying questions but also i need to decide what size im going to by the R2s in. Im 187 cm (6"13) weigh around 70 kg (154 lbs). I ski in switzerland and usually do tree skiing and like to build kickers every now and then...

Should i go for the 192s or the 184s?

Considering weight and ski style, I'd say 184. And i usually advocate long skis... Got the 192 myself, and I'm only 5kg heavier. I on the other hand have got a pair of DPS 112's for tree skiing and kickers and my R2 will be used for charging!

The guys that designed this ski and tested them at different mounting points are telling you where to mount them. Listen to them!!

If you want to mount farther back, don't buy a ski with a rockered tail. That is all

Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

6'2" 220 lbs is definitely not fat as you're implying.

How is it possible that Salomon is able to hype this ski up enough to deserve a 9 page thread?

    Does look pretty sweet tho...

They look pretty sweet chillin' on my living room floor, though my wife might disagree.

And I count 14 pages, but whatever.... Over the course of almost 1.5 YEARS this thread has journeyed from concept to production to reviews to pro athlete feedback to mounting recommendations, with plenty of bitching about salomon thrown in. I wouldn't really characterize it as a hype thread, it's just a great example of TGR tech talk forum efficiency.
    focus.

My buddy's been doing the ski tests at Freeskier for the last few years and is more of a park guy than anything else so he likes he skis center-mounted as much as possible. First, he absolutely loved the Rocker2. Second, he felt they skied better at -2cm from the recommended line.

EDIT - this was for the 184cm length.

So skiied em at Bear mtn on shady cold goomers. Pretty stable (some flap at high speed, def a speed limit at ludicrous speed), tail slides out or carves depending on the turn. Seemed fun, realy quick to turn if you want, or able to straightline. Interesting ski. need some pow to really see, especially sierra cement to really test em..........
