    Salomon Rocker2

It looks like Salomon has a new powder ski in the works. I wondering if these are the pointy tipped ones we've been seeing pictures of.

    From Mike Douglas' Facebook page:

Mike Douglas Just got a look at the new 'Rocker2' ski from Salomon. Love the shape, love the graphic. I haven't been this fired up on a new ski since the arrival of the Pocket Rocket!!

Mike Douglas Sorry, no photos yet (soon I hope) These skis are totally new and have not been seen outside of this office. Most of the team pow shredders were testing them last season. Rockered tip and tail, fat, and light. I knew they skied well, but now that I see the new graphic, I'm very stoked`!

Excellent news - A new ski with promise, and good chance of closeout prices on the previous model rocker.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

No, that's not it. That's the 2011 Rocker and is unchanged. The Rocker2 will be a completely new ski it looks like.

^^^exactly, who cares what they come out with, and whether it's going to actually be safe. until they make amends with dalton, and prove they are trustworthy again, they're not getting a penny from me.

The pointy ones were a test in swing weight reduction. I saw a pair in france back in January and they weren't even rockered (flat).

They need to be lighter. Rockers are fun, but only when going really fast. Also, there have been sightings on Tramdock of the current iteration and for pretty fair prices.

It's confirmed that those in the pics are the protos.

    More Facebook:

Mike Douglas The test models from the past season had Czar graphics on them. That's them in the photo. A few changes have been made since then and I'm really happy with the results.

The ski will be available in a limited release in October. It's coming in 4 sizes too, which is great.

I have seen and fondled this "czar" graphic ski...light and some neat design elements. Should be a a really fun ski. I have not gotten on it, but know some who have and they say its FUN!!!!!

I'm guessing yes. I haven't had any issues with Salomon's Monocoque on several pairs I've owned. They're plenty solid.

Yes I have to admit their monocoque constructions are now plenty solid, unlike my old ak rockets or 1080s for that matter.....

But the fact is they are fugly ass looking skis cause of it. I just dont like the round lines a monocoque constructions gives a ski. That added to salomon graphic choices for the past years just makes their skis look like space age kids toys. I much prefer the simpler lines of sandwich constructions skis, even half monocoque like on the Movement Goliaths looks good!

There will only be one ski in the sallie lineup next season that is full true sidewall construction. Nice ski too. reminded me of an LP...96 underfoot. 120+ tip...slight tip rocker. Dang what was the name of it again..oh wait...the "Sentinel".

Otherwise its caps construction for sallie as usual. As mentioned...very strong, but if you have "sidewall" damage...kisss the skis goodbye. No repairing a "cracked" cap ski.

No fan of cap skis myself, but cap skis can be repaired.

The real problem with the older monocoques is that the grain runs the length of the ski, and when the edge and sidewall get wacked, the core splits 2 to 3 times more along the grain.

Nothing a little predrill/countersinking and epoxy dipped cabinet screws cant cure.

Just about every single original AK Rocket in Jackson ended up that way.

A tremendous ski, but fragile as tissue paper. Kinda like the Katana.

The X wing Lab seems a lot more sturdy with a similar feel. Can't figure out why that one never developed the same cult following. Awesome ski.

Sorry, have no info the new Rocker, just musing on the past.

I'd just like to reiterate the "Fuck Salomon" sentiment. I don't care if they came out with a hoverboard, I wouldn't take it if you paid me to.

You mags feel like their skis are so stokeworthy you'll buy them even when their irresponsibility has let to an awesome mag possibly never being able to go skiing again and their PR dept lying to us several times following that incident in regards to details surrounding it? Fuckin' shame on you all.

You couldn't pay me to have a pair of Salomons in my gear closet right now and maybe you should all sack the fuck up and buy something else. Unless of course you think it's cool for a company to design a shit product, not change it when it breaks in testing, send it across the world as a bombproof product, then lie their asses off when it almost kills one of our own. FUCK that and FUCK anyone who knows what happened to Dalton and still buys Salomon, as you are a gutless fanboy bitch that's supporting their irresponsible and potentially fatal actions. Thank you for reading and have a great day.

Aren't threre several other threads spewing the same stuff as above? Is ever Salomon related thread going to have to endure this?

I suppose you can boycott every shop that sells Salomon gear, every resort that uses Salomon in their demo or rental fleets, and skip every ski flick that has a Salomon sponsored athlete.

    Where does it end?

It seems like the goal is to redirect Salomon's budget from lawyers to victims.

Actually yeah, it IS going to be in every Salomon thread from now on, or at least until they own the fuck up to their screwups instead of blowing smoke up our asses when we ask the "why" and "how"... Which will never happen.

You see, I want people considering spending their money with Salomon to at least be aware of what happened with the Quest 12 Pro. You know, when they built a piece of shit boot that broke in testing yet went to market unchanged anyways as a "bombproof, uber-gnar" product, almost killed a fellow mag, then lied about every concievable detail after that... Yeah, THAT Salomon.

Look man, what would it take for you to think they didn't deserve your business? If Dalton got killed, would you buy them then??? Maybe it just didn't hit close enough to home to matter to you but I personally hope you never see anything like that. So yeah, why don't we just go on buying their shit, basically supporting their actions. By not letting your shopping attitude be affected by this, you're basically saying you're fine with the way the whole shebang went down. Honestly I'd like to know where you'd draw the line.

As for "Where does it stop" I'm going with a big fat "Nowhere". Sure I still love to watch Cody Townsend and Sammy Carlson rip, but I'll never be like "Wow, I have to have those rockers" No fucking way. I don't blame them for getting paid, but shit man, I'll be damned if Salomon sees another penny of mine. You do what you want, but I speak wth my money ad I urge you to do the same, even if it is inconvenient or unpopular. No, I won't boycott a store that carries Salomon but I do have a close relationship with most shops I do frequent and I have been very vocal about why I will never support them again, as it's also important for them to understand why I feel that bond of trust has been violated/broken. Perhaps they agree, maybe they don't. Either way I think it's important for people to know how Salomon feels about their responsibility to the skiers that support them, and how some people percieve that as a slap in the face as I do.

So in closing, yeah if you're going to start a Salomon related thread, I'm going to at least remind people of what happened. They can figure out where to go from there by themselves, but at least they can have all the info on why I think their money should be spent elsewhere.
