I think the finale will be very interesting, but inconclusive.

I wonder why Gus would have sanctioned the killing of the 11 year old? Perhaps he didn't and the two thugs were going rogue. In which case, Walt will be appreciated by Gus, rather than hunted by him.

Yea, the business model was a good point. At first Gus was extremely insulated, as a character he was introduced by Saul as an very cautious man. I don't think his character is going to be around much longer. As more and more people find out about him, it is becoming much more likely someone with high ambitions, like Jesse, could walk in and take him out. He is definitely slipping up.

I think Gus must have ordered the hit, the thugs certainly knew what would happen if they acted with out Gus' consent. From a business perspective, Gus had to either eliminate the kid or the two thug's, if he didn't he would be on thin ice if the kid ever decided to go to the cops or tell anyone. To appease Walt I think it would have been better to just kill his two employees.

Tomorrow night is going to be a great, Heisenberg is back and is going after Gus. If Walt ever takes the top spot, he is going to have a lot of loose ends to tie up. It seems like everyone besides the DEA knows who Heisenberg is after his indiscretion in the first few seasons.

i found this interesting, interview with vince gilligan abou the season finale:

We can talk about the future in a little bit, but right now I want to talk about that scene. You wrote it, you directed it, and it sounds to me like you don't intend for there to be any ambiguity by the way you cut the final bit of it.

In my mind, no, I don't intend for there to be any ambiguity. Let me start this by saying I always am reluctant to tell the audience afterward what to think or how to feel. I really prefer it when the audience comes to their own conclusions. But in honest answer to your question, I never really intended for there to be any ambiguity. But it's funny: in the editing room, my editor and some other people were saying that the way it counter-dollies around, it looks like he's changing his point of aim before he pulls the trigger. For what it's worth, I did not intend for it to feel that way. I've been hearing from the people who've already seen it that it looks like he's changing where he's aiming. That is not intentional. I did not see it that way when I was directing. It's not wrong for you to think he shot this guy.

Great episode and can't wait until next week. No idea where the season is going to go, but it's time for Walt to make some moves.

looks like jesse is going to be killing people this season - didn't flinch when the box cutters went to work, and then went and ate a big breakfast.

Really should wear goggles or at least safety glassed for that kind of thing. You never know who may have FULL-BLOWN AIDS!!!.

...no really - can't be too careful these days.

And I agree with Soc - Jesse seems to have fully accepted his lot in life.

Great opener. I'm curious what role Hank is going to play this season. I doubt they are just going to check in on him periodically to announce that he is now walking 20 feet in 20 minutes.

I'm betting Hank gets more depressed and pathetic and ends up smoking meth by the middle of the season.

I bet in the next few episodes he will come across small bag of blue meth, and when given an opportunity to get rid of it ends up hiding it in one of his geodes.

Man - you're really putting a lot of thought into this.

    Sounds about right to me.

Glad I saw this thread. This show is unreal. I watched the first few episodes of this season, got hooked and just finished the first three from season one on Net Flix. I couldn't go to sleep the other night, I was so wound up after watching them. Cranston is amazing.

Any one else think Mike may have gotten to Gus before Walt?

When Mike said "You're never going to see him again" is when I got the idea, but I doubt they would kill off such a notorious character off screen, and contractually it wouldn't make much sense. But the the bar scene with Walt and the way Mike rubs the blood off, it came into my head. It was an awesome episode all around. Hank and his minerals have me so confused, wtf is going to go on there?

The blood was Victor's. It was definitely Gus that called Walt. Mike asking Walter what the gun was for suggests he had no idea Walt had gone to Gus' house. Walt deserved to get his ass kicked in the bar, fucking retarded thinking Mike would betray Gus. Plus, I think Mike always had a soft spot for Walt because he was a good man caught up in a bad game. Now that Walt has caused the deaths of Gale and Victor (who Mike must have considered a friend, he seems to be taking it pretty hard) and generally thrown a big ass wrench into a previously well-oiled machine I think he would be happy to put a bullet in Walt's head.

Hank's mineral obsession is pretty bizarre. Though I guess going from hunting down one kind of crystal to another is kind of a natural evolution.

i'm thinking somehow hank's wife is going to find some meth accidentally left around and think it's hank's minerals. she slides it in with hank's incoming purchases without knowing what it is. hank's going to examine it, try it, maybe get hooked, and get motivated to hunt down his nemesis - heisenberg.

As much as I love this show, I'm actually getting tired of these sloooooooooow episodes. There was almost no tension in yesterday's episode. Did we need 2 weeks showing Jesse partying? Hopefully it gets going again next week.

I dunno.... I kinda appreciate the slow episodes and the build up of tension. I'd hate it if they pandered to the idea that they have to have something big happen in every episode.
It's fun watching everybody slowly go nuts....... Hank's wife going to all those open houses= she's nuts.
