anyone know if CDOT cares if you park along the road near where the pump house basin drains out? There is a small lot/wide area there on the east side of the road (someone was parked there today) but thought I'd see if this is cool to do or not.

I wouldn't recommend it. A friend of mine parked his car at the bottom of current creek during the last storm and had to leave it there because the pass closed. He came back the next morning and it was gone. Bam! 350 dollar fine. You make the call, I don't think it'll matter as much if it's only during the day however.

I have no idea what their opinion is on the subject but I've parked their several times with out issue. If they don't want you to park in a plowed pull out there will be a sign posted.

Lost: old pair of Scarpa T1 telemark boots in the Berthoud Pass warming hut (bathroom buiilding at the main parking lot)? I left them there on November 13. They have some custom footbeds/liners and some distinctive stickers on the back. They are pretty old and beat, but it would be fantastic if I could at least get the custom footbeds back. Continuing the rapid succession of brain farts.

This is posted separately, but a friend suggested I post it here, too.

Thanks, I posted it on their FB wall and just emailed Shan about it. Also posted on T-tips and talked to WP, Empire, Grand Co. authorities.

    Any snowpack observations?
I was thinking of trying out dry gulch tomorrow, but I've heard that can be sketchy.
I might just hit up something mellow on BP.
    what do you think?

Would you be hitting Fry Gulch with a group? Does anyone have experience there in the group?

Mellow turns can be had anywhere. If you know BP, though...

I haven't been up yet, but with the Wolfie Death, copious snow and reports of two omnipresent weak layers I think the saying is "better safe than sorry."

It's also early season so everyone has their pow-glasses on.

I don't know your backgrund at all, but these are the things rolling around in my head. Lower 110s seem like a no-brainer to me.

Yep, I'd be going with a group.
We're all avy'd. Definitely looking for some mellow, probably gladed-tree'd turns.
The plan was to get there early, assess and if it's looking like a no-go to just turn around and head towards BP or maybe even loveland.

I'm sure it will be covered much better from this recent storm but the 110's looked kinda bony last Sunday. The easternmost aspect didn't have any grass showing, but curve a bit more to the south and it still needed some coverage. Watch for sniper fire, but enjoy!

hmmm...Nelson and Sams it is, then. It's my favorite, relatively safe shot anyway.

telesucks, If you feel comfortable that's all that matters. Just remember, look for reasons NOT to ski. If you find them, buyer beware.

Yeah, we ended up going to berthoud and just kickin around in the trees.
Had some good turns. dug a pit, and you better believe we're getting the usual faceting.
It was a fun, mellow day.
    BTW, go ski logik!

Skied the Shoulder by HHA this morning.
Somewhat tracked out, but plenty of fresh!
Pack felt solid on that aspect, no top windslab, no creaking or settling.

    COLD. AS. FUCK.

View onto Lift Gully and Meadows...

Did I mention this was my first day back on AT gear in ~1.5 years? Damn son.
