Saturday was really fun. Deep snow in places, not so deep in others. Took a massive core shot, but also found myself munching on snow in the same run. All on the West side. Current creek bench down to hidden knoll, Y chute for the core shot and the face shots.

Agreed, got my best turns in yet Saturday. We managed to hit the Russell bench a couple times while it was still fresh, then played around Hidden Knoll for a couple drops. No rocks (luckily). The Russell drops were downright excellent.

I did see a couple guys set off small releases on the knoll (on either side of where we dropped, which we knew to the be the safest spot). About four inches of new on top of hardpack sloughed off. No one hurt, but makes me wonder about their line choices...

This week looks to dry out around Wednesday. Wish I could get up sooner than that, but work has me held down.

Looking like a very promising dump.

Saw some very fragile and slide-y snow in Rocky Mountain National Park Sunday, so take care out there. Surface hoar under windslab.

While we were only on minimal angle terrain, we kicked off several small on the slightest of rolls, shooting cracks, etc

Just skied some quick shots in the west trees this afternoon. Snowing and blowing hard, didn't want to mess with anything else. Thick, deep, sugary snow. Only one small scrape, coverage is coming along.

The pass closed while we were up there. As darkness fell, it was nuking ridiculous...

Guy from Tahoe here. I'll be in Denver for business Dec. 2-3 (Thurs and Fri) and am considering staying for the weekend to do a little BC skiing.

    (1) Taking into consideration that [ame="http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205841"]I am somewhat gimped for the season and that I am limited to meadow-skipping for hippy turns[/ame], would it be worth my time? (Tough question, I know. Essentially, I just want to know if the conditions are likely to be decent. I'm otherwise always pretty stoked to ski somewhere new.)

    (2) Assuming the answer is yes, would anybody like to join me/show me around? I'd be more than happy to return the favor should you ever come out to Tahoe or the Eastern Sierra.

    (3) Am I in the right Colorado-based thread?

You're in the right thread, especially if your in Denver, Berthoud is a quick hour shot up the highway, although on the weekends, prepare to get up early or leave late.

I think Berthoud has some very laid back meadow skipping areas, especially north facing, right behind the warming hut going down towards the road.

Might as well get a few turns in, snow totals here have been off the charts, seems like were getting a good base laid down, and hopefully with this pattern, we will continue, at a minimum, to get these links of 3-4 days with a 2-4 each day, followed perhaps by some dry days.
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

    gmen.

Berthoud could be VERY fun tomorrow (or tonight).

Was over the Cliffs next to Gaffney's...that large, hanging snowfield that is almost NEVER safe.

Very buttery today, the Hightrail trees have filled in nicely.
Plenty of untracked lines left for tomorrow.

Pass was open when we got there around 7:45 or so despite the cdot sign saying it was closed on I-70. Everything we skied was completely filled in. Incredible for mid-November.

I'll be up tomorrow but I don't wake up until the sun is warm. Goliath Sluffs, mismatched poles, "Wine Me, Dine Me, 69 Me" t-shirt.
