    DHELI-

Nice pics! I was just trying to download photos here (Cannot figure it out for some damn reason) and saw these already up! Please steal them anytime!

There is a lot of snow out there up high! Will take anyone on a flight anytime if they desire! Stoked to do such.

Went up toward Lassen today. Its holding a lot of snow!

Seems like there is more snow to the north now than south. Castle peak zone looks really good. You just need to know where to go.

Desolation is still a bit thin as is the Rose area. Eastside up high looks good as well (but again my obs are only from the air) No tracks again today on the backside of Castle. Someone needs to go get them some. It really looks good and is holding.

    Just my 2 cents.

Anyone want a plane just give a shout! Going back into a high pressure window for awhile...

I was just dwelling on this a second ago. Mammoth had to be super fun today. But nooooo...instead I'm stuck here. I want to shoot myself in the head.

    Thanks PointsNorth,

Based on your report of Castle Peak and Lassen, I'm guessing you may have flown over Sierra Buttes. If so, did you happen to notice how the snow was holding up there?

    Thanks again!

So you're waay ahead. Good skiing. Really nice to see right now. And I'm going to toss in the excuse that any negativity in the above comment bobs your way on a sea of frothing jealousy. Which is true.

Buttes are thin. They sorta go, but more of a slog for not much.

Flying out of Truckee almost every morning. Will put some pics up tomorrow of Castle and others. Hopefully there will be some tracks!

Thanks for the update. I don't ride there too often because of that hike, and it gets even longer once roads close at Packer later in winter. The buttes themselves tend to be the type of place where a sneeze sets of an avy. But they are fun to visit every once in a while; sounds like I'll have to wait a while longer.

I'm always up for Castle; this is my old stomping grounds where I learned to ride way back when. This Saturday, early morning is probably when I'd start hitting it up. If I don't over pack my day pack I'll throw a couple cold ones in there for all. I'll be the dude with a green and black striped jacket and backpack full of PBR.
Don't forget your Sno-Park pass if you haven't got it yet. Parking near Castle will require it.

Saturday it is! Early morning, probably starting the slog in with the lamp-might be a bit too early?

Thinking the Northwest aspect is holding good snow, any beta to confirm that PointsNorth? Will wait for pics.

Maybe a bit, but not much really. I was thinking I'd hike in around sunrise or so.

I used to be so much more determined...used to be I was sitting on Castle waiting for the sun to rise.

Looks like we're driving from Alpine to Mammoth for Thanksgiving, though. Now I just have to find lift tickets that don't leave me feeling abused.

If you still have those college Ids, Boreal is $15 today/tonight. According to their website, they opened the quad going to the top, making it worth while. Ill be there after work today.

Just keep in mind, Y'all, that it's still kinda the pre-season.
Don't go and do something that will get you gimped up for the rest of the Winter...(Sierra Cement, et al)...

Not sure if you using me as a specific example, Turx.....but yes, take care of zee knees. I did not enjoy watching this thread last year while recovering from surgery.

After talking with gimpy about the conditions, I opted to wait for a little bit mo snow befo I go.

(I thought it was your ankles that got mashed?)

Just wanted to put out a reminder that "Going Big" early on always seems to catch someone out.
But you were the only Mag I could recall doing that, from last season.
(Prolly cos I was digging the Sierra Pillow-lines myself).
    I hope that's ok.
