I sure wouldn't trade being able to walk, ride a bike, ski, run around, etc for any amount of money. (34 surgeries and counting, severe permanent disfigurement requiring a wheelchair, and the fact that Savage's has to endure what is likely to be excruciating amounts of physical and emotional pain for the rest of his life is not something that I'd wish on even my worst enemy)
It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

Want to be careful to not divulge any confidences... but as I understand it Driver was out of the slammer with "time served" after boot camp, instead of the 7 years. Good news is he is now back in jail after missing 8 urine analysis awaiting a court date... and sometime in the next month will learn his fate. I'm hoping they'll reimpose the remainder of his sentence?

On the large monetary amount in lawsuit... neither the asshole driving, his buddy who gave him the keys, nor the buddies Dad whose car it was have any money, and they had only CO minimum $25,000 auto insurance... so Savage seeing another dime of it is honestly doubtful. And their insurance company is paying to appeal the award at this point, because there is a small chance with some fancy legal maneuvering and 2 or 3 more lawsuits over 2 or 3 more years (and even more of what little money Savages have), that the damages could be flipped onto insurance company. Which, if that happened, I suspect will then file bankruptcy... so, regards money... sounds nice and all, but not so much.

Root if I win the lotto could I convince you to build one more?

That knife is sweet...I saw some custom knives the other day that I was told were made from leaf springs off a snowcat at Mammoth. They were sick. I might be more impressed by the belt grinder though

mock, so sorry to read about your friend.

Got this done in just over one day recently. Nothing too impressive. Put a door in the back bedroom and added a small patio so when I get drunk and pass out back there, I can piss off the deck.

^^^^ nice job common... working on a deck of my own.

What did you do for flashing against the house? Did you mount to the header of the house or drill into concrete foundation?

Thanks hawkgt. Just got a wide flashing, tucked and tacked behind the cedar shingles with some bending job at the door area. Header went into the house. Iy doesnt happen often, but with some projects everything just fits perfectly. There used to be a window where the door was and framing the door turned out pretty flush...no wiring through the new opening, etc. Just special ordered a perfectly sized door. Leveled easily as well. A little sikkens on top and 2 days later it was done.

I've still got lots of work to do (rails, paint, trim, etc.), but it's coming along nicely.

YO totally sick. The sailing outrigger canoe is a potential next project. Did you get plans for that (out of "Building Outrigger Sailing Canoes" perhaps?) or is it your own design?

    How heavy is it?

I rolled my varnish on with a West foam roller, very thin so they don't soak up and waste the varnish. No tipping. It came out a lot better than I thought it would.

Walnut Trestle Cradle-Kind of stole the design from a picture I saw on the internet. Built 83.8% by hand. Not as cool as some other stuff in this thread (A fuckin rc snowcat?) but I am pretty proud of it. My wife is proud that I got it done before the baby actually arrived.

So much cool stuff in here, definitely a good source of inspiration for future projects! I got the oak top for this coffee table from a guy who salvaged it from an old frat house that was being torn down, and the rest of the wood was pine from my friend's farm in New Hampshire. I audited a woodworking class at the Maine College of Art to use their shop to build it, so overall the only thing I paid for in making this table was the danish oil I finished it with. I'm pretty happy with it, and it made my final portfolio show look a lot better overall.

The stools are made out of birch plywood, and are held together with only joinery and a ratchet strap to provide tension. After a couple of prototypes to figure out the kinks in the design, they don't wobble and can come apart to pack flat.

Is the plywood routed out so the strap lays flush with the wood? Is it your design? Pretty sweet.
However many are in a shit ton.

Thanks, it's my design, but I'm not the first to use those kinds of straps to hold furniture together. There are two notches all the way through the top so that the ratchet is under the seat, but other than that the strap is just on the surface (it's strapped pretty tight though, so it doesn't move around much)

^^^ Really dig the table. I love the silhouetted legs that appears to be a turned leg, very modern and playful.

    Good, because I'm stealing it!

That concept rocks for simple, sturdy furniture for small spaces. Wish i had some of those while I was in college, I threw so much shit out when I moved...

hey, DON'T YOU SEE THE © IN THE CORNER!!!

actually, figuring out the little details of it are kinda a bitch, took me about three or four prototypes to finally perfect something as simple as a bench, I'd be interested to see how someone else would work around them. I made a good little profit selling them for $50 each though Since work is slowing down around here, I'm thinking about making a couple to sell on craigslist for a while. The table still has some kinks to work out though...
