Handgun sales to an out-of-state individual must go through a FFL. Then you have the problem of getting a carrier to ship the gun, which must be delivered to the FFL.

In-state sales of a hangun are somewhat easier, no out of state dealer required.

Avoid pawn shops otherwise you get ripped. Gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com are decent sites.

http://www.sturmgewehr.com/ is also a good site and is free. You need to read the rules otherwise your post will get whacked pretty quickly by the owner/moderator.

thanks. I wouldn't sell long distance anyway. UT residents only with CCW. Posting a Glock 23 on KSL later today.

Got rid of my FAL recently and got a few pistols in its place. Most likely going to sell the G17. Pic of the new family... (which like my car choices is starting to lean heavily towards Germany) HK USP compact (plus 3 magazines, a holster and 60 rounds of 40) and a brand new G17 in OD green.

I got an FNP-9 a couple months ago. I know it's a different cartridge and not even really the same design, but it's pretty rad as far as semi-auto pistols go. The recoil is less than other 9's I've used, it doesn't throw the cases 10 feet away (easier to find for reloading) and it's performed flawlessly - usually I get a few missfires and stovepipes and stuff with new autos. FN Herstal is a good company. I'd think it would be really really tough getting ammo for the 5.7.

Problem is ammo. After the initial buzz, Brady and Pelosi got on the cop killer bullet thing and got the import of all the full strenght SS195 ammo banned. So all you can get now is reduced power FMJ. Don't hear anything bad about them, other than comparing the power of the round to a .17.

Gordon Miller at hkspecialist.net has them for $1,080

That round (and the HK designed 4.7mm) were designed to penetrate body armor, with a short cartridge that could still fit in a handgun. The idea was to have small sized handguns and subguns that were small enough to be carried convienently by non front line troops, such as artilery crews, etc, giving them the firepower to penetrate body armor.

Those types of rounds haven't been all that successful with any militaries, and as a civilian, who is mostly going to be shooting at targets, and any threat you might face almost certaintly won't be wearing body armor, then there are far cheaper and more effective rounds.

Get a 9mm. It's cheap, better penetration and more inherently accurate than 45 or 40. If you ever need to use it for defense, the modern self defense rounds expand well enough that 9mm hits plenty hard enough. If you can put rounds on target, it'll work. All the old timer's talk about 9mm being inferior for self defense are relics from a time when bullet technology wasn't as good as it is now.

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like the 5.7 isn't a great choice. I had a line on some old stock SS109 (enough to fill the gun). Part of the attraction of the combo is the fact that the guvmint doesn't want me to have it. Still, sounds impractical.

Theodore what'd you get for your FAL? I want one and wondering what the going rate is these days.

Shot a few mags of birdshot through a Saiga-12 this weekend. I need one.

I got a slightly used HK USP compact, 3 mags, a holster, 60 rounds of .40 and a NIB G17 for it. I had it on a forum for $1200, and no real nibbles, I dropped it to $1100 and did this trade. He said it honestly was probably worth ~$1400, I just wanted to get it in someone's hands that would enjoy it.

Things that added value to it: Imbel Gear lower, DSA kit, Vortex flash hider.

I thought the trade was fairly even.

Well, took it to a 100 yard range and squeezed the trigger once. Everyone said it would loosen your fillings, but I didn't notice the recoil. Just a heavy push, nothing snappy. Being sighted in for 600, the ballistic charts said it would be 22" high at 100 yards. I didn't even see if it would get on paper.

Between graduation with the daughter and related crap, and the trip to NYC to see the Yanks play this weekend, haven't gotten to the range or field to play with it any more.

Dumping some stuff to pick up an swing-down receiver MP-5 I used to have. Sorry to say, but it may have to go. The MP-5 is not easily replaceable, but the Sako can be replaced. And one of the ones I regret letting go.

Was there anybody else at the range? I bet they loved you!

If that was the 22 I'd be real interested in taking it off your hands.

Yeah, know what you mean about .308 vs. .338LM. Federal Gold Medal Match 168 grain is a little more reasonable than the Lapua stuff.

The Barrett used to clear them out the quickest. Most folks think all this stuff is illegal when I drag it out, panic and leave. Fortunately, the LEO's in the county know me and it's not a big deal.

That is blasphemy!!! Shooting it just once, you should be put in jail!!

There is no way I would sell a 338 for a 9mm even though an auto mp5 is probably much cheaper to shoot even on full auto than the 338. But at least with a 338 you can shoot them from a mile away where as with a mp5 you need to see the whites of their eyes to get someone. I am not a fan of mp5's at all and think they are way overrated and only useful close in.

Yeah, I know, kids, family, poker gets in the way. Same guy has an M-16A1 I'm considering instead of the MP-5. I need three M-16's, one for each of the kids. Last time we went to the range, I was asked on several occasions who gets the M-16 when I go toes up.

Seriously Ken - I'd at least zero that baby and blast some steel at long range before making a decision. I'll take "BANG!oooooooooooooommm.........Thwack!" over "Ratatat tat" any day.

    For sure.

I <3 full auto. I was surprised at how easy it was to keep most, or all, rounds from 20 count magazines on 55 gal drums with M16A1 out to 300 yds in both daylight and under flares, and M60 out to ~1000 at various inanimate targets over water and land from UH-1E. Fun factor of 11 on a scale of 1-10.

I think I would prefer close in, though. I want the MP5.

It's been far too long since I've blasted anything.
