I've avoided chiming in until now, because I figured that I didn't have anything to add that hasn't been said.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised by the tone of the thread. I would've expected the anti-obvious posters to substantially outnumber the pro. Sure, there are a few folks who appear to have way too much time on their hands and are locked into a debate that neither side will possibly win (not to say I don't enjoy reading it, of course), but hey, it's teh interweb. The occasional chimers-in, on the other hand, are pretty strongly pro. I wouldn't have expected that level of support.
