But the stars still need to be on the right, right?
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

nope, just on the pole side. Or so I believe and if I'm wrong, the tattoo on my left leg is fucked. Military wears it the other way (stars on the right) but I don't believe that is wrong either.
from wiki [edit] Display on vehicles and uniforms
When the flag is affixed to the side of a vehicle or uniform, it should be oriented so that the union is towards the front. This is done to give the impression that the flag is blowing backwards from its hoist as the vehicle or wearer moves forward.[19] Therefore, U.S. flag decals (or patches) on the right sides of vehicles (or uniforms) may appear to be "reversed", with the union to the observer's right instead of left as more commonly seen.

Yeah when hanging like that, stars to the left as the photo has. hanging vertically, stars to the right.
The Army, who wears the flag on their shoulders of their ABUs/BDUs, wears it backwards. Technically it's correct as the flag is supposed to look like it's waving in the air, however they wear it on the 'backwards' side because Army tradition requires the wear of a unit badge/patch on the other shoulder, where the flag would normally go. Wear of the flag is a relatively new thing, the unit patch has been around forever.
IMO tho that shows kinda fucked mentality on the Army's part - tradition taking precedence over doing it the right way.
Well, theoretically the flag is pointing in the same direction as the muzzle of the howitzer - into battle. This is why the flag is worn backwards on the right shoulder - you're never running away from the battle, but always charging forward into it.
Yes but if it was worn properly on the LEFT shoulder, it would be running into battle too.
That's where certain major commands of the AF wear theirs (AETC, AMC, PACAF, AFRC, ANG, etc)...only the Army wears theirs "backwards".
Okay, new and unrelated question - has anyone ever seen 10-round magazines for AK-47s? Know where to buy them?
I'm most likely moving to Hawaii in a couple months here, and have been reviewing the laws. No mags over 10-round capacity, but it does not say that certain guns are banned, just nothing higher than 10 in cap. Wondering if I should leave my AK in storage in the mainland, or bring it over with me...but like I said, I've never seen 10-round mags, just 20 and 30-rounders.
Just leave it with me, haole.
Let's talk big guns. Am I the only one who giggles at shit like this?
About 1:15 in.
I just laugh every time I hear that delayed "Brrrrrrrrrrrrrap" from the A10.
Well, I've been trying to work the Aspen option so maybe you could have shot it sometime, but that's just not working out, it seems.
The thing that sort of irks me is that I don't WANT to be a Hawaii resident, I just want a job. The FAA/US Gov't is sending me there...at least active-duty military people can retain their residency in other states...
Basically, it blows. I have to go show the chief of police all my stuff, for them to catalogue, within 72 hrs of arrival. So I'm just looking through what's worth bringing over.
Normally I'd just sell my stuff, but I'm concerned with a new AWB coming along eventually, and not being able to buy new stuff later on when I want to.
Naaww. I love that shit too.
My bro-in-law works on A-10s and actually works on all aspects of loading weapons and servicing the weapons platforms. Pretty wild. Think he has been deployed three times now. Been a couple of years now.
He has sent me some good vids but after the last HD went down on the computer me no habbe.
He sent me a bunch of still photos of A-10s that came back in pieces too, but still flying. Great plane.
Nope on the CTD. They have 20, 30, 40, and even 50-rd cap mags, but no 10.
Don't think I've ever seen one either, and that's more of what I was asking (if anyone had ever seen one, let alone knew where to buy it).
Just don't buy any of the plastic ProMag shit.
I looked around for some and found a few using google. Some were single stacks.
Kind of an old ad, but you might contact them.

BERETTA CX4 STORM?? Any mags have/shot? Thoughts? Thinking about picking one up in 9mm.
Ken, Jer - thanks. Found a Saiga hunting rifle in a pawn shop here today, it has 2 10-rd (or so) clips. I'll try to convince the manager to sell those to me, maybe trade in a 30-rd'er or two, etc. I don't want to have to sell my gun just because I got a great job in HI...
Ken, re: single stacks v double stacks - I presume "single stack" refers to all the rounds being in a straight line, like a 1911 cartridge? Will single stack mags fit normal mag wells on AKs, or do you have to have a special well for them?
I'm leery of those 30-rd mags, modified to 10-rders to make them CA/IL/HI/NY compliant. Since everything has to be inspected upon entry in HI by local law enforcement, I'd really prefer to not rock the boat and get extra scrutiny. I know they say "10 ROUNDS ONLY" on them in big hudge letters and shit, but still.
What do you all feel about a Remington Custom Shop 700 .300 Winchester, any option that can be had on the gun IS on the gun...

Upgrading the Ruger .22 with one of these stocks I bought today. 22 ammo is so much cheaper than 5.56.

Bush got C's.... Obama probably failed lunch
Had a friend that had one, I wasn't impressed. I just don't see the sense of a pistol caliber carbine (unless its full auto). If you're going to go for a rifle, why not go .223 or bigger? And if you want it cus the ammo is cheaper for 9mm, well then get a .22, and a .223.
Not sure how much those go for, but if you're looking to spend top dollar (or slightly less) look at FN's bolt rifles, they are some seriously nice guns, guaranteed to be 1MOA or less, and they're what the FBI uses for their snipers.

Although they're out of stock, K-VAR has double-stack Bulgarian 5rnd magazines. I have one that I've used for bench shooting at the range. The 30rnd mags can get in the way due to how far the come down out of the receiver.

Since I'm making a post in the gun thread, I better add some gun porn...my AR, AK, and 10-22:

Nice! How do you like that EO Tech? Worth the money?
I was just reading a review for a LaRue tactical red-dot sight for the AK, replaces the rear iron sight bar. I like the basic idea of it since it doesn't necessitate pulling off your smooth handguards for a bunch of lumpy, heavy rails. Plus strapping a bunch of shit on an AK makes sense no does, talk about heavy.
I like the Eotech. Makes for super fast target acquisition. I plan to buy a magnifier with a flip mount to install behind it at some point. And if the batteries die, the Troy flip ups are great irons with the ghost ring reticle.
As far as the AK, I don't think I'll use anything other than the irons. I'm too much of a purist.
