Yesterday, I skied in Silver, Days and Cardiff. The day before I skied the same drainages adding a Mineral fork. Two days ago I saw one skier. Yesterday, I lost count of the numbers.

I'm pretty sure they all learned where to ski from the internet.
Skinners are in. Pole probing may be required to find them, since it snowed again.
Some people need a life outside of attempts at censoring internet chat rooms.
    That is all.

Some hypocritical people need to get a life outside of thinking that they are internet Know-it-Alls, snow gods and experts. Especially those who neglect to mention in their trip reports when unfortunate incidents happen to them which are similar to things that have happened to others that they have poked fun at.

I agree with GnarW. Internet chatter isn't the cause of crowding in the BC. It's pretty obvious when there are loads of cars at the trailhead and the skinner heading out from there. Half the stuff you can see from the chairlift or the roads and then the other half you see after you get to the place you could see from the lift. Add to that that the gear makes it f**king easy to ski in the BC and we all wonder what the h*ll people ride chairs for anymore any ways. If you want to rant - rant against the gear makers and advertisers. The only reason not to be getting fresh tracks within an hour from the road is because you have both a family and a full time job - and even then it's not that hard. Ergo be glad we're in UT and not CO, which we will be - just a matter of when! Lighten up.

No need to include names, as I could tell where Marauder was just by looking at the pics. Same could be said by most mags when looking at pics of most of the locations included in this thread. Unless posted by Trackhead, 80% chance it's going to be Days, Cardiff, Silver, Butler, Argenta, or Scotties.

If nothing else, naming names tells us without thinking about it where someone has been. So if that's you thing, it gives you a clue where not to go if you want to be left alone. Which I think would be appealing, since the pseudonymous subjectmatter doesn't seem to be long on clues.

    A full disclosure.
I started ski touring in the early seventies. Ski bum shortly after. Worked as a paid semi pro observer for uac, 15 years. Had to get a camera and confusor to fulfill requirements. Started getting contracts with a disclaimer stating I could not claim any affiliation, so I set up a web site. The purpose was sharing snow obs with uac. They then told me the position was no longer necessary.
The web site continues in hopes of reclaiming lost wages and because I enjoy it.. Still a ski bum.
Don't know nuthin and don't give a shit. Never claimed sno god status or expertise. Am unaware of any unfortunate incident in the recent past. Have poked fun at far too many people to have any idea wtf that relates to.

Snow remains stable, best above 9000'. Those planning an Argenta in the am should be aware, dusk patrol was swarming the area. I thought that particular run had far greater interest prior to the slide cleaning out the thicket at the bottom and seldom visit. It'll grow back.
BTW, Xover, you fucker. No one ever wants a boobie autograph. Sooner or later we'll cross paths again. Say Hi whydontcha?

Is the Wasatch the only place in the world that gets consistently drowned in loads and loads of holy snow from God and yet the people there pretend like it is some sparse, precious commodity that is going to disappear and so needs to get conserved? Holy shit what a bunch of spoiled brats you all are. Are you worried that it is going to run out before the next 100" storm? Jesus Christ! Fuck you. That shit needs to get tracked up. Every last flake.

Lots of defensive folks here. Why?

Using Argenta as a basis to support your behaviors is about as effective as a limp dick at an orgy. Argenta proves my point. Monkey see monkey do.

Admin, please change the thread title to reflect this new direction.

In other news, REI has agreed to pull the Wasatch Tours series, the Wasatch Tours maps, Backcountry Skiing Utah, and Chuting Gallery from shelves immediately. They had no idea they were blowing up your stash.
Guidebooks do not equal spray. Guidebooks say it can be done. The spray shows not only that it can be done, but you just did it and theres a skinner right there for me to follow.

    Yup.

    So lighten up.
If yall are so experienced, you dont need to spray. the photos are self explanatory. How many lurkers do you think look at this thread daily? And yes, the panaoramas from the ridgeline are not beneficial. no observation there, and, hey, we ALL know where that shot was taken from, right? The best photos I see on this site are folks getting face shots. More of those please, less beta.

Argenta is a piece of shit run anyway. If all of the off-camber, double fall line, eroded gully skiing doesn't drive you crazy then all of the tip grabbing saplings just below the surface will; Utah's single most annoying run.

The other skier in the backcountry is your brother, not your enemy. If it is important for you to be alone, don't worry man, you will probably get your wish.

WOW, wow you must have a salt sand mix in that vag of yours if you are still thinking about this after a day like today in the Wasatch. Shut the fuck up, and ski some POW.

Fellas! Turn down the suck! Turn up the good!

Got a couple loose snow sluffs to roll on steeper E facing ~9500' in the morning but by mid afternoon all aspects below low-9000s were getting damp.

Gnarwhale, nice pics and thank you for bringing us back on topic, it's a great time in the Wasatch right now.

About the recent thread drift: If you're bitchin about disclosing "secret stashes" and people who get out everyday and provide extremely useful information to the community instead of skiing right now, my friend your priorities and self righteousness are in the wrong place.

In other news, if anyone is getting out tomorrow and wouldn't mind an extra trail breaker tagging along PM me.

photos were pointless today, all they would have captured is a white cloud moving down the mountain. My helmet cam was in a similar predicament, it just recorded snow hitting me in the face......

man, alias' are so fucking gutless. that shit really chaps my ass. subjectmatter was prolly one of the clueless tools we passed on argenta that were totally skiing over each others trax when there was untracked off to the sides,

just got back from powchasing in ootah and had one of the best weeks of skiing in my life. ALL the people we met on the skintrack and elsewhere were nice as could be, sharing info and beta on the various questions we posed to em. and the radness of this community came to shine on our 1stday when skifishbum allowed us to tag along on various sweet shots that i wont mention out of respect to him though i'm pretty sure he could give 2 shits if i did. he's a way cool cat and thanx again mang.

the other 2 days we just used argenta as an access point though we only skied the main skiers right shot once. everyone was just skiing the skiers left side as i'd imagine they didnt want to deal w/ that shitty ridgeline traverse involved in gaining the summit from that side. in 6 laps we basically skied every single line off kessler in those 2 days w/ sum downright epic conditions. being the 1st one down the east couloir on wednesday was in the top 3 runs of my life. unfuckingreal it was. so good we had to go back up to ski the east bowl (catchers mitt???) for the homerun down cardiff. not another soul around except all the folks skiing argenta main so we actually had to bust the cardiff out at 7:00.

the next day we skied 2 laps on the lawnmower and then did a kinda sketchy traverse all the way across the summit ridgeline to ski the west couloir. that was the only run all week where we hit some other tracks though it was almost welcome to us tahoe folk who prolly woulda struggled w/ some routefinding in the crux and in the out down mineral. i can see why that area gets lots of pressure cause there are sweet lines w/ good vert and the right aspect.

this trip made me realize there really are cool folks in utah and all the hubbub about utah skiing is well founded. u guys are sum lucky motherfuckers so stop bitching and go enjoy it. we're stuck in a corn cycle and as one of the local folks we met on the mower said " there aint no magazine called corn"
