Anybody hit actual snow falling anywhere instead of a torrential downpour???

Maybe should have just gone kayaking instead.
part of beartooth is CLOSED from all this. I was gonna go with Lexi.

Nope, made an early assault on blackmore yesteday and did not encounter snow. Not sure what elevation I reached, but I turned around pretty early -- when it was still fog/mist/drizzle. Came across a group of three and another group of four headed up when I was heading down. I bet they got wet.
We heard you in our twilight caves, one hundred fathom deep below, for notes of joy can pierce the waves, that drown each sound of war and woe.

I was looking at snotel sites yesterday to see if anywhere was getting snow, but I couldn't find anything that was really going up significantly. The water content was certainly rising, but snow depth seemed to be staying the same or dropping everywhere.

uh oh. I surprised it was raining at hyalite. lake still frozen? There was a lot of snow up there last week. We hiked from the reservoir to palisade falls. really wet and cold after a while. yeah, not a good hike in sneakers. Lotta snow.
Is that level of shotgun shells up there normal for this time of year? Snowmobilers are fucking animals, there is debris everywhere. People even left targets! Really nice ones actually, the ones that are gofers that change color when hit. we made sure to take 'em.

That's pretty normal. The people that shoot up Hyalite seem to think it's ok to leave their shit everywhere when they're done shooting down trees or blowing up their trash. The last time we rode History to S. Cottonwood we picked up 300+ shells someone so kindly left strewn across the road after shooting over a 12" thick tree. I would happily give up my gun rights in order to strip these people of theirs.

But to get back on topic, it seems like we did get a little water the past couple days, the rivers are a little high:

We were just driving down by N. Rouse and Main and the creek was overflowing and spilling into the homes and yards around the bridge. I can only imagine it is going to get worse before it gets any better.

There was water on/near the interstate near bear canyon as well (someone was kayaking through the fields). I'm sure Kagy's pretty much submerged by that boarding school too.

The Gallatin is UP! The water at 35mph bridge was ~3 feet from the top of House Rock yesterday morning, and the water was chocolate milk. The typically calmer sections of the river were rolling. NOAAs pretty pictures show a nice, wet system circling us, keeping us wet for a few more days. Then, more moisture heading our way from the N Pacific. Whoopee! Heard the Yellowstone got wild in Livingstoned.. Any info?

    NOAA Said:

THE PERSISTENT STORM SYSTEM THAT AFFECTED THE REGION FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS PRODUCED ANYWHERE FROM 4 TO 8 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH UPWARDS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES AT LOWER ELEVATIONS. NUMEROUS SMALL STREAMS HAVE RISEN ABOVE FLOOD STAGE AND WILL CONTINUE TO CREATE AREAS OF MINOR FLOODING. RIVER LEVELS ON THE BIG HOLE...GALLATIN AND JEFFERSON RIVERS CURRENTLY REMAIN BELOW FLOOD STAGE BUT ARE EXPECTED TO RISE AGAIN OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

    - - - - -

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHWEST...CENTRAL...AND NORTH CENTRAL MONTANA LATER THIS WEEK. A FEW OF THESE STORMS MAY BECOME STRONG WITH GUSTY WINDS AND SMALL HAIL.
Missing out on all the watersports in B-Zo.. stuck in Big Sky working.. not sure if that's good, or what.
    Stay left.

The Gallatin hit it's first peak 5 days ago in the Canyon. Hopefully the next warm spell takes it over House. Most of the flooding seemed to be lower level rivers and creeks.

The Yellowstone was high about a week ago, but is fairly low (relatively) right now. I think its flowing at about 11-12000 through town.

Looks like a foot of new at the lone mountain snotel site since noon yesterday. Anyone get out skiing? My buddy skied creamy pow on corn at bridger yesterday and is headed up there again today. Hopefully somebody throws up some local pics!

The south face of Lone looks to have at least as much snow on it as it did on Closing day. This is ridiculous. Had to pass up an opportunity to get hauled up to Cedar this afternoon.. no gear with me. ARRRGGHH!!!!

thought I'd throw a few of these in and bump the ol' bridger thread. Three feet of June pow being a worthy ressurection. C'mon, I know somebody out there did something way sicker than I did so post up some more!

I think I saw you capone up on the ridge yesterday. The skiing was ridiculous for sure. Skied super and b gully and it was like a late march pow day without everyone tracking everything out. I'll post some pics when i'm not feeling so lazy

It was problematic deciding what to ski, everything was so awesome! Like you said, it could have been an epic day in late march with no crowds or moguls! Unreal. Super and B gully must have been sick. Throw up those pics for sure. I skied sluice box top to bottom to finish the day because I figured I would milk like 100 turns down that shit without crossing a track. It was sweet but I almost regret not skiing something sick or going huge. I guess I shouldn't get too greedy. The turns were so good!
