    Saving Parking Spots?

I drove up to Snowbird at about noon today. It took forever to find a parking spot. We finally found a great spot along Who Dunnit on the Alta bypass road. Next to this elusive spot sat a white Dodge Dakota Sport. There were a few guys sitting in the box of the truck just hanging out. When we tried to pull into the spot, some guy runs up to my car and motions for me to roll down the window. Then he tells me (with an attitude) that we can't park there because his friend had to run some errands but will be right back. But it was OK because his friends "are from out of state and it's their first day skiing." I looked at him like he was crazy, and he stated many times, "I'm not joking, you guys can wait here and see when they come back." We should have just pulled in and told them where to go, but I'm pretty sure my car would have been messed with. As we drove away, this douche bag walks back to his buddys in the truck and appears to be bragging that he got us to leave. We drove around a while longer and finally ended up parking much farther away. Normally, I would have just let it go, but this guy was one of the biggest assholes I've encountered in a long time and there were no decent parking spots available.

Is it acceptable to hold parking spots for your buddys? I know there's been debates about holding spots in the lift line, but this seemed ridiculous to me. I'd like to get some opinions on this. If everybody agrees that this guy was out of line, I'll post the pictures I snapped of his truck.

Post the pics. That isn't acceptable. His buddy can find a different place to park as well as you can.

I was going to say he shoulda parked there anyways, but getting your car fucked with is probably not worth showing some d-bag what is up.

Shoulda made it obvious you were taking a picture of his car/license plate, parked your car, and left. He woulda had to be an idiot to fuck with your car after you took pics.

It wasn't at a ski hill, but I just parked and left my car after a very similar encounter. Feeling a little odd, I asked my three friends to join me in returning to the car and "having a look". The guys we'd left behind were just about to "mess with" my car, when my friend Bob walked up behind them and scared the living shit out of 'em. Bob is gigantic - 6'7" and 320lbs and NO FAT.

Well, Bob just says to them something like: "I don't think you want to do that. You mess with my friend's car, I mess with you!"

They split and after hanging around for a few minutes we left too. Bob left the restaurant we were eating at after about 20 minutes to "check on things" and when he got back he had a big grin on his face. He'd taken my car keys with him. It seems that he found two of the guys getting ready to do something, he never told me what, to my car, and he made them take all the valve stems out of their tires on their car. Then, he drove away in my car and parked in a long way away, leaving them to figure out how to re-fill their tires. I loved it that he made them take the valve stems out and give them to him.

Anyway, folks can really fuck up your car/truck, especially when you're gone all day skiing. It's probably not worth the trouble unless you've got a "Bob" who'll "check on things" for you.

Let the fists do the talking to that douchenozzle.
"She loved snow...That was the simple objective, being airborne, up longer, higher, more casually and with more fuckoff elegance than anyone else...Such endeavours require a kind of egotism, a near autistic narrowness. Everything conspires against you, the habits of physics, the impulse to flee and you're weighted down by every dollop of commonsense ever dished up. Everyone will tell you your goal is impossible, pointless, stupid, wasteful. This idiot resolve is all you have."

YES! That would be him. He ended up (the real Bob) teaching 1st grade in an inner city school. The kids loved him. NO ONE screwed with him. Very cool guy.

I would have just parked there and told him to go kick rock. If he had a problem with that you would kindly put a ski pole up his ass.

Then just write their plate number since if they fuck with your car, you can call their parents since they did not play nice.

My "key" to your situation would be to return to their truck and use your key to let the air out of one of their tires- if you are nice; or two if your are not.

That's what I would have done too. You could have parked and taken pictures and hoped for the best but that would have been too much trouble (and legally you would have had nothing anyways). Look you knew what would have happened had you parked, you knew what kind of guy you were dealing with, so just take off and then come back to take revenge for you know what he would have done. Then maybe next time the guy will think twice before acting like a jerk and you'll be responsible for him not being a dick to someone else in the future.

I'd do all four, and if I could get to the spare, I'd do it too. But hey, I might be vindictive.

But taking the valve stems is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. My new favorite.

I have to admit taking a few valve stems over the years - it really does work so well. Particularly when the AAA truck shows up and starts looking at things. Four flats.... no stems.... hmmmm!??

Shit, I call a valve-stem remover the 'instant Karma Delivery Device'.

    And have for years.

My favorite was at a music festival..a bunch of obnoxio wanna-be gangsters with their Harleys/Triumphs whatever spent two mornings of the festival throttlin' their pigs at 6:00 AM in order to go to town and get breakfast...(and did three-four laps in the campers lot, just to purely piss folks off)
And also throttled them up to 'tune' them during the day.

This was at a VERY mellow bluegrass festival.

last night, during the big set, I took out the valve stems of:
    Four bikes
    Two trailers
    Three vehicles

    All of them.

    Fucktards.
