Andy, the reason you make me want to throw-up is because you obviously have never worked in the service industry. I bet many who post here have and they've delt with dip shits like you. I've worked in gear shops before and had to deal with the fucking loser like yourself who reads every inch of the spec manuals of whatever the product they're trying to buy. Then you come into the shop trying to toss their amazing knowledge around trying to make those who work there feel little.
Andy my boy, those who work in these shops can't be experts at every little gadget they're trying to sell, it's can't be done. But you, who is soooooo fucking superior i guess you know it all. If one of these clerks flinches you pounce on them with your smartass remarks and try to belittle them. Most of these people that work in these shops do it because they love the sport, they sure don't do it for the pay.

You talk as if you are in the service industry, so let's go back to the original post, Andy asked the clerk to get the boots that he had ordered that were on the hold shelf. Rather than being argumentative, how hard would it have been for that clerk to take a look, realize the boots were there under Andy's name, and retreive the requested boots? You seem to want to blame the customer 100% in this situation, but had the clerk simply retreived said boots, this situation wouldn't have happened. You can blame Andy all you want, but the clerk is responsible for not completing the simple task first asked of him.
Rather than continuing to be a douche, please leave. You have brought nothing positive to this community that as long as I can remember, has been nothing but a great camaraderie of stoke and love of the outdoors.

He didn't come into the store expecting the sales people to be knowledgeable at all...he came in to pick up a pair of boots that he had ordered and was told were available. I know that employees can't be expected to be experts in every aspect of the business, but how much knowledge does it take to lift a pair of boots from a shelf and place them into the customer's hands?![]()
I think that the human mind is unique among all other forms of life in that it can spontaneously create unique thoughts and provide unique behaviors. Instead of rewarding that uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity.
Sometimes it's best to just let things go. This is one of those cases.

Glad to see the G. Neptune answered the internet call. The old time maggots here do acknowledge and appreciate feedback from all of the shop owners/company reps/manufacturers/etc. that frequent TGR. This could be a very good opportunity to turn around what appears to be a major issue for your store.
Once a conclusion is reached, perhaps starting a new thread with the resolution would be better than wading through 30+ pages of spew.

One of the problems with neptune is the Boulder attitude clash. We all think we know more than anyone about skiing/climbing so when we go into gear shops we're skeptical about retail knowledge. As a whole though, Neptune does eat a dick. My friend once had a "retail associate" sell her skins that were 20mm too small for her skis. I've had my teles mounted incorrectly there ( I just mount them myself now). And I've heard a plethora of other horror stories from this junk show of a shop! BENT GATE is the best gear store in the Denver Metro in my opinion. People treat you well, are cool, and don't give you that "I was climbing trad before you were born attitude". The best thing you can do is take your business elsewhere. One plus about Neptune's, however, the Southern Sun (i.e. great beer) is right next door!

I think it is great that you posted here (if that happened to be you, and if it wasn't, you probably are reading this anyway) and hopefully Adminn will get a hold of you and let you know his experience and you can figure out whether this is part of a larger problem or some isolated incident and talk to your employees and get their side of the story as well. There are always two sides of the story, but it does appear that others here have gotten a similiar vibe which has resulted in some loss of some of your customer base. Don't worry though about the 25 pages, 90% of the comments are worthless, but the people who have expressed their personal experiences have given you a great opportunity to learn what at least some people think. You have been running this business for a long while now, and likely know much more than me on how to do it successfully, but the number of negative comments here would cause me a little concern.
