CMC Edwards Campus. Dave Agulara does a solid job of it.

We used Aspen Alpine guides a few years back...great operation. It was a 3 day backcountry course including dinners and hut fees, think it was roughly $200. It was based out of the Peter Estin Hut which is not far from Vail. Think they may have been sold so I'm not sure what the new owners have in mind for avy courses.

I think the class/hut trip is the way to do it, if you can.

I'm pretty sure they are still doing them, or you can take one through us.

is the advanced/practical class a level two, or something like a 1.5?
It was all a whirlwind; freeze and flash.
Within a week we had grabbed our skis and hit the road.

It is more like a 1.5. AIARE has upped the minimum hours required for Level 2 this year so a true level 2 is like a minimum 36 hours. Plus Level 2 is way more snow science than most people want. So the advanced practical we set-up has some level 2 components but more in-field practical stuff like route finding and terrain assessment, which is what most people seemed to be interested in.
